Draco sat at the Slytherin table slumped over, with head in hands. How the tears falling from his eyes were filled with such sorrow and regret. All he wanted to to do was talk to someone about how he was feeling, but the only person he talked to about those feelings, was Hermione.
How Draco felt so alone, more alone than he had ever felt in his life. Draco had made plans for him and Hermione in the holidays, sneaking around Hogsmeade, night walks through the castle.
But Draco would be going home for the holidays, which he had dreaded, but he couldn't wait to hold his mother. He often thought of her and what she would be doing at that moment. He was worried about what his father may do to her her, or the things he would make her do. But Draco had to let those thoughts leave his head if he wanted to make it through the school year without being miserable.
"Malfoy party in the Slytherin common room tonight, you in?", Blaise asks, whilst Adrian scoffs in the background.
Draco looked to Blaise who was longingly waiting for a answer. Draco would usually say no, as he knew Hermione would not be able to attend and that he wouldn't want to have fun without her. But they were no longer, and Draco needed an escape.
"Fuck it, I'm in", Draco smirks, before taking a swig from his orange juice.
"There he is, my mans back", Blaise says, putting his arm around Draco's shoulder.
Draco gave a weak smile and his head bowed down. He looked up over to the Gryffindor table to catch a glimpse of Hermione. She was sat next to Padma Patil and was reading a book, reaching for her juice every so often.
Draco smiled to himself. Atleast she is safe.
Draco attended the rest of his classes for the day and tried to focus on the important things, like his education. Draco tried to fill his days with things that would distract him from Hermione. He played quidditch, would often go to hogsmeade with Blaise, and even took his own liking into reading.
Draco was starting to feel his normal self again, this was not a good thing, he was his bullying and rude self again.
Hermione had moved on as well, she was topping her classes, and she had taken a liking into a boy called Cormac Mclaggen. They had been on several dates and were inseparable, the pair would do everything together.
Draco was also trying to move on but a lot different from Hermione, he had hooked up with Pansy at the Slytherin party, and had hooked up with numerous girls after that as well. Soon Draco was starting to feel himself again, occasionally thinking of Hermione from time to time.
Draco was currently waiting for the Hogwarts express to pick him up and take him home for the holidays.
As Draco boarded the train her looked from the corner of his eye where he saw Hermione further down the platform, she was pulling Cormac into a hug with tears in her eyes as he boarded then train.Draco wanted to step off the train and stay at Hogwarts, he wanted to stay and spend it with Hermione and see if he could fix things. But he knew it was best to leave it alone, and continued onto the train to find a seat.
Draco hated being on the train, especially being alone, because that meant he was alone with his thoughts, and they were never good ones. None of his friends had gone home for the summer, instead they all had plans to stay at Hogwarts and hang out and party.
As much as Draco would have loved to lock himself in his dorm and drink his sorrows away he couldn't, he missed his mother.
Draco really had turned back to his normal self maybe an even worse version of it. His life consisted of drinking, sex, and constantly wanting to be control of everything in his life and losing his mind while doing that.
