The next morning at breakfast, owls filled the great hall, the sounds of flapping wings filled the echoing room, Draco who was sat currently eating sausages and eggs, was not expecting any letters, Draco never got mail. His father never wrote to him, and his mother was probably never allowed.

All of a sudden Draco had gotten a letter from his eagle owl. Draco stared at the letter unexpectedly and didn't know whether to open it in front of others just incase it was something bad his father had sent to him. So Draco, trying to look unsuspicious, stood up from his seat and walked outside of the great hall standing behind one of the gargoyles out of the room, making sure he was out of sight. He slowly began to open the letter from its wax red seal. Draco had never received an envelope with a red wax seal, he had only ever seen blacks and browns, he knew this was going to be nothing he had ever seen before, but from who. Draco pulled the seal back and unfolded a small piece of parchment. He began to read:

Dear Draco,

How I have been so impatient and longing to speak with you. I cannot stop thinking about you.

You drive my insides insane, you hurt me sometimes and it pains me to think you don't feel anything.

But I know you do, I know you feel the same, I know your just dying to feel my touch like I am yours.

Meet me at the astronomy tower at ten o'clock tonight, and don't tell anyone, it can be our secret.

Love, H. Granger.

Draco's insides churned, and his heart began racing. Hermione had sent him a letter to meet him. He didn't know whether to be jumping with joy, or furious.

Hermione knew, as much as it excited him, he couldn't see her, it was too risky for her and for him. If his father knew! If anyone knew!

But Draco was seeing past all that, he was going to see her. He wanted to, even if they didn't speak and he just sat there and looked at her, he wouldn't mind. Just being in her presence would make Draco feel more happiness than he has ever felt in his entire life.

He couldn't wait the whole day he had a smile on his face and a skip in his step, he made his way to potions class and began greeting everyone he saw, even a few Ravenclaws.
He entered the class room and took his usual seat next to Blaise, with the biggest goofy grin on his face.

"Why are you so happy? Potter's finally had what's coming to him?",  Blaise says continuing to jot down the notes from Professor Snapes blackboard.

"No, no reason uh um, I- just saw Macmillan try to turn his cup into a rat, bloody nitwit turned himself into one", Draco fakes a laugh, beginning to pull his books out of his shoulder bag.

Blaise stares as if he isn't convinced, then begins to smile.

"Bloody Macmillan I knew he was always stupid, I mean he is a Hufflepuff", Blaise laughs looking towards Hannah Abbott another Hufflepuff.

Phew. That was close, Draco thought.

After class Draco and Blaise made their way to the Great Hall still making jokes about Hufflepuffs.

They seated themselves and began to eat, when Dumbledore made himself known to the podium.

"Silence!" Dumbledore howled, which echoed through the Great Hall.

"I have a few announcements I'd like to make, this year Hogwarts will be hosting the Triwizard tournament, in this tournament there will be three tasks, and three triwizard champions!" Dumbledore explained, this caused students to chatter and look around the room.

"So if you are of age of 17 and over I encourage you to put your name into the Goblet of fire. But I forgot to mention Hogwarts will not be alone, we will be joined by two other schools who each will give up a triwizard champion each, leaving one champion for Hogwarts!", Dumbledore announces.

"Now I shall like to welcome the first school to arrive, Beauxbaton's Academy and their headmistress Madame Maxime!", Dumbledore began to clap loudly, but the room was silent.

Soon about thirty girls all dressed in baby blue dresses and bowler hats came trotting through the centre of the Great Hall.

Draco looked at the girls for a second but soon looked away, he had no interest in them, they were no where near as perfect as Hermione who Draco turned to look at. She was already looking eyes fixed on Draco's, was she jealous Draco thought to himself,  she was giving him a glare as if to say, don't you dare look anywhere else Malfoy.

"And now the second school, Durmstrang and their headmaster Igor Karakoff!", Dumbledore shouts.

Then a group of about fifty boys March into the room in woollen brown clothing, stamping their staffs and doing flips and tricks, Draco's face became heated, he looked over to Hermione who was already looking at him smirking, as if to say your turn, Draco smirked back and continued to glare at the front boy who he knew as Viktor Krum.

Supper was finally over and it was currently nine fifty, this time made Draco nervous.
He made his way up the astronomy tower, with voices in his head telling him to turn back, but he didn't, until suddenly the cold air hit his face.

He looked around the tower, til he saw her, Hermione.

She was sitting on the bench reading a book, which she closed when she saw Draco.

Draco strode over to the bench and sat at the far end beside her, it was silent for a few moments the pair didn't say anything, it was awkward at first, but then the silent felt almost comforting.

"Uh- how are you Draco?", Hermione says as the hot air from her mouth caused steam to fill the air.

"Good", Draco said bluntly, he was so nervous, all he could do was glance at her every now and then, and it drove him crazy.

"It's okay if your nervous,  I am too, took me a Felix Felicis to come up here", Hermione laughed, and Draco shot her a worrying look.

"Joking", she said trailing off.

They sat there in silence for another ten minutes.

Draco grabbed Hermione's cold hand with his, and for the rest of the night they sat there hand in hand, no talking but enjoying each other's presence.
