" So you like him," Ishaan asked, taking a sip from his hot cup of tea.

" I am not sure!" Samaira groaned, clutching her hair with her fingers. She hasn't even touched her favorite cup of coffee. The way Vihaan gazed at her last week still left butterflies in her stomach.

" That's definitely a yes," Ishaan chuckled, finding his friend's current situation to be comical. Samaira rolled her eyes at him in return, secretly knowing that what he is saying might be right.

" I barely even know him, Ishaan." She convinced herself more than him.

" You can get to know him?" Ishaan suggested playing with the spoon in front of him.

" What if he doesn't feel the same about me?" she questioned him, still frustrated.

" You'll never know till you ask him, Samaira. You can either sit here wasting time on what-ifs, or you can just talk to him." Ishaan convinced.

" Can girls make the first move?" she whispered, fidgeting with her bracelet.

" Why can't they?" he asked, raising his eyebrows at her.

" Girls are independent, strong, self-sufficient, and courageous. Who said they can't make the first move. Honestly, Samaira men are dumb. They can't even acknowledge their own feelings. How would they be able to understand someone else?" Ishaan explained as both of them got up from their table.

" I need time to think," Samaira muttered as Ishaan held the door for her.

" Take all the time you need," Ishaan reassured, giving Samaira a warm hug before walking towards his car.

He stopped in front of his car and called out her name. " Rahul asked you to meet him today. He didn't seem too happy be careful." He cautioned. Samaira wrinkled her eyebrows with a loud sigh as soon as she heard Rahul's name.

She had to walk towards her office all alone. It wasn't far, but she didn't have her work buddy to chitchat with because Ishaan had to leave for an internship. She dreaded having to meet with Rahul because he always found a way to make her day miserable. Not having Ishaan her moral compass made it worse. With all the confusion throughout the day, she didn't need more negative energy.

She walked into the building and immediately noticing the pity-filled glances the secretaries were giving to her. She dragged herself to Rahul's cabin and knocked on the door.

" Come in," his snake voice called out. She stepped into the room resisting the urge to roll her eyes.

" Oh wow! I haven't seen you for so long! Sit down," he sneered with fake enthusiasm. Samaira pulled the seat in front of her and sat. From the smile he was giving her, she knew today was not going to go well.

" Samaira, I have noticed for the past few weeks you haven't even been showing up top work properly, let alone do any work. You haven't even made a dent on the case I gave you A MONTH AGO!" He yelled in her face. She took a deep breath.

" I am really sorry, Rahul."

"SIR," he interrupted, raising his voice again.

" Sorry, sir, but I have been a little distracted, and I do sincerely apologize about that. The case details will be given to you by tomorrow, and this won't happen again." She spoke in her most formal tone keep her voice and emotions in check.

" This better not happen again! Mr. Hughes will get a personal letter from me if I see this shit repeat again." He warned, and Samaira shook her head. He pointed towards the door and motioned her to leave. Never has she been treated like this by anyone. She was angry at herself. What happened to her work ethic that she prides herself on! Personal life is a personal life, and work is work. She walked to her cubicle and took a seat.
