It's been about two weeks since Samaira and Vihaan met, and have been meeting each other almost every day. While Samaira met him after work, Vihaan had to make up the work he missed every day, but the sleepless nights were nothing new to him.
They both decided to go on a nice evening walk. The sun is just about set painting the sky with a beautiful ombre of pink and orange. Vihaan walked gazing at the sky while the breeze of the night began. His mother used to say that sunset and sunrise were like a moment of opportunity. It comes before we know it and leaves before we see it.
" So how long are you staying in UK Varun?" Samaira asked putting her hands in her coat pocket.
" I-I don't know... Maybe a few months?" Vihaan stuttered avoiding eye contact.
" I am bored, yaar Varun," Samaira whined after a few minutes of silence, thankfully diverting the conversation.
" What should we do then?" he asked, smiling.
" How about we ask each other questions?" Samaira suggested.
" Ok, I'll go first. Um... Favorite Color?" Vihaan asked.
" White," Samaira answered.
" Ok, Mine is Navy Blue," he replied.
" Do you have a girlfriend?" Samaira asked, walking ahead while Vihaan stopped. She turned around and looked back at him.
"Why do you want to know?" He asked, raising his eyebrow.
" I was just curious!" Samaira raised her hands in defense, which made him chuckle.
" No," He replied, walking to catch up with her.
" What is your favorite cuisine?" He asked.
" Chinese"
"Mine too!" Vihaan replied, excited.
" Your favorite childhood memory?" She asks.
" When I was 4 years old I used to live with my grandparents. Every Saturday after my grandfather came home from the office. We would always go to the park nearby and after I finished playing we used to go get ice cream. " Vihaan replied, smiling at the memory he shared with his grandparents.
"That's so cute!" She replied looking at him, while he was walking ahead. His height made it much harder for Samaira to catch up. Standing at 5'7 she would consider herself somewhat tall. However, compared to Vihaan who was a 6 feet 1-inch giant she looked like a kid.
" What is your favorite flower?" He asked turning his head back.
" Jasmine!" She exclaimed meeting up to him, Vihaan nodded.
"Thing that you hate the. most?" Samaira said, waiting for Vihaan to answer.
" Failure. What about you?" Vihaan replied
" Lies and Liars," Samaira said furrowing her brows.
Vihaan took a big gulp sticking his hands in his pockets. He felt the air was a bit more suffocating than before. He attempted to ignore the last sentence, but some how it felt like it was directed towards him. As if she knew everything...
She doesn't know Vihaan! You're just overthinking! He looked over at Samaira who was smiling at a little girl playing by her self. Her smile was captivating... Something about it wanted him to see it again and again.
Once again, Vihaan and Samaira stood on the porch of the Jha's house. It's become a routine for both of them for the past week. Samaira's mom and sister teased both of them in the beginning, but now everyone was used to it.
" Thanks for taking me on a walk, Samaira," he said as he took a step down the porch steps.
" No problem, Yaar! Also, you can call me Sam." Samaira replied, smiling.
" I used to now a boy named Sam in first grade... He used to eat chalk and glue. He would pick his own scabs to taste his blood... " Vihaan narrated looking at Samaira. She had her nose wrinkled and upper lip pulled up.
" Would you still like me to call you Sam?" he asked raising his eyebrows and tilting his head with mischievous eyes.
" No!" she screamed shacking her head frantically side to side. A roar of laughter escaped his mouth.
" So, are we meeting tomorrow!" he asked putting his hands behind his back.
" I can't make it tomorrow! Sorry!" She replied pouting. The chilliness of the night began as she rubbed her exposed hands.
" Oh... I'll meet you soon then..." he said shuffling his feet in disappointment.
" We can meet the day after though!" Samaira said tilting her head attempting to cheer him up.
" Yeah... I'll see you soon" He replied moving towards his car.
" Bye Varun" she called out to him waving her hand.
"Bye" He called back grinning. He drove off in his car pretty quickly. Samaira walked back up the porch and closed the door with a small lingering on her face.
She sat down on the couch looking off into space lost in her thoughts.
