The sunray fell on her face disturbing her slumber. She shut her eyes even more tightly, hoping that the blinding sun goes away. Someone came and closed the curtains, and she continued cuddling with the pillow next to her with a small smile. Stretching her arms out, she rubbed her eyes and slowly started to wake up.
" Good Morning," someone greeted her.
" Good Morning," she replied with her eyelids still shut. She fluttered her eyes open and looked at Varun or Vihaan with wide eyes.
"What are you doing in my room?!?" She yelled, but her voice was barely audible from the constant coughing throughout the night. He ignored her question and proceeded to hand her a cup of Haldi dhoodh ( turmeric milk). She scrunched her nose, looking at the cup, and turned over, covering her face with her blanket.
" Your mom said you have to drink this," Vihaan instructed, setting the milk down on her nightstand and sitting on the chair across from her.
" I'd rather die!" Samaira replied with her hoarse voice.
" Well, if you aren't going to listen to me, maybe I'll just call auntie." He said, peering out of the door. Samaira rapidly gulped all the Haldi dhoodh while pinching her nose. She wiped off her small milk mustache and handed the cup over to Vihaan. He smirked, knowing that the trick was going to work.
" Okay anyway, what are you doing in my room?" She inquired, attempting to sit up. Vihaan grabbed a shoulder and placed it behind her back and head for support.
" Just like that! Why can't I visit my friend?" He teased, opening the curtains.
"Samaira, he seems like bad news to me" Kiran's words rang in her head.
" Since when have we become that close of friends that you can just enter my room whenever you want?" Samaira rebuked, furrowing her eyebrows. Vihaan immediately looked directly into her eyes which weren't filled with that spark it usually has when she is joking. He cautiously sat down at the edge of the bed without moving his eyes from hers.
" What's wrong?" He calmly asked, confused with her new behavior.
" Every friendship has limits, and I think you are crossing yours." She replied, altogether avoiding eye contact.
" So entering a friend's room is crossing the line?" He questioned, raising his eyebrows.
" I've been ignoring your calls for a week. Can't you take the hint that I don't want to talk to you?" She argued, straining her voice farther.
" Did something happen?" He asked with concern.
" No, I just don't want to hang out with you." She bluntly replied. He quietly stood up and walked out of the room. Samaira looked down, fidgeting with her bracelet and biting her lip. She stood up and headed to the bathroom to get freshened up for the day and distract herself. After coming out of the shower, she tossed her towel. Samaira's eyes moved to her phone, and she eagerly wanted to call Varun and apologize. He didn't actually do anything wrong. However, Kiran is her best friend, and she is probably right. Is it truly Kiran's words or her feelings towards Varun that are stopping her? She took a big breath and reached for her phone to send him a message to come back.
Will he come back, though?
Samaira: Hey, I am sorry. :(
She didn't have to wait too long to hear a response from him because, within 10 minutes, he rushed into her room. He stood by the door without saying anything. Both of them look at each other in absolute silence will awkwardness began congesting the space. Samaira finally broke the silence.
