"You have a little brother?" Ten gasps and sits up. People on nearby tables glare, disrupted from their books and studying, but he ignores them to focus on his boyfriend, who has now somehow shrunk into his chair with a sheepish smile.
"Um, yeah?" Johnny says, scratching the back of his neck before settling on twisting a long strand of blond hair around a finger. Ten narrows his eyes at him.
"How old is he? Is he cute?" Ten asks.
"Shh. We're in a library, remember?" Johnny hisses, much to Ten's annoyance.
"Answer my questions."
"Fine. Jeez, babe. So feisty today." Johnny rolls his eyes. Ten just folds his arms. "My brother's seven. And he is not cute, just a little shit."
"I'm sure he's not. I bet he's really cute if he's only seven." Ten continues and begins to pack away his textbook. College life is hard, but now he's on a mission to meet his boyfriend's brother, studying low on his list of priorities now. Johnny scoffs. "What's his name? And why did you hide him from me?"
"Mark." Johnny sighs.
"Well, why did you hide little Markie from me?" Ten tugs a reluctant Johnny out of the library.
"Trust me, you won't be calling him that once you meet him." Johnny huffs. "And I wasn't hiding him. I haven't met your sister!"
"But you know she exists!"
"Mark usually lives with my dad. I only mentioned him as it's spring break at his school and my mum's looking after him for the week, so he'll be at home when we get there. It was a warning."
Ten stops his strides and looks up at Johnny with a hopeful glint in his eyes.
"So I can see him? Now?"
"I'm presuming you were dragging me home." Johnny replies, and this time it's him who leads the way. Ten races to keep up with taller boyfriend. He likes the size different though; it's a free workout and Johnny always makes him feel so small when they cuddle.
The spring sunshine isn't too harsh and provides a comfortable warmth on their cheeks while they stroll back to Johnny's house, which is just barely ten minutes from the college campus. Ten lives a little further, so when they don't have class and want to relax they tend to crash at the elder's place. It's a cosy home, with dainty flowers growing in the garden and a red front door, and the delicious aroma of cookies embraces them when they reach the front path. Johnny leans down to peck Ten's lips.
"Be warned." He says as he inserts his key into the lock.
"Johnny? Is that you?" His mother appears in the hallway, apron tied around her waist, and her eyes crinkle into a smile in the same fashion as Johnny's do. "Hello, Ten, dear." She takes time to kiss their cheeks and ruffle their hair.
"Hey, mom. Have you been baking?" Johnny asks and tries to peer into the kitchen, but she stops him.
"Mark has. Well, I've been helping him. But it's a surprise, so please don't spoil it. Stay away from the kitchen." She explains.
"Ten wanted to meet him, actually." Johnny says. His tone fills with caution, then he grumbles when Ten prods his ribs.
"Jonathan here never told me he had a little brother." Ten smirks.
