"...where?"
"huh? oh you're up." you greeted. "you're in my room."
"and why the fuck am i here?"
"calm down. you passed out last night, woke up 3 times, attacked the air with some serious karate chopping skills and then collapsed again." you sighed.
"that doesn't explain why i'm here."
"you came in here yourself and refused to leave."
"what?"
"well it worked in my favour since i brought the first aid stuff with me and you over exerted yourself with your shoulder so you ended up bleeding again. and i wasn't really bothered to drag you back to the couch." you explained.
"...i came here myself?" he repeated.
"yes. do i look like i have the energy to drag you into my room?"
"why didn't you kick me out?"
as if i could do that when you wouldn't let go of me.
"dude. you have a gunshot wound on your shoulder. and this isn't even my house, i can't just kick you out." you scolded. "you ask a lot of questions for someone's who's injured. just get some rest, it's still early."
he opened his mouth again. "you stayed here all night?"
"didn't i just tell you to re— it's not like you'd listen to me, right? yeah, i stayed. i was at my desk all night." you said, pointing to your unorganised table.
sure enough, there was a coffee mug still emitting steam and multiple documents and reports stacked up after completion. your laptop was still on too, and now claimed to have low charge.
"you were working." tsukishima remarked.
"wow, you're so observant. with skills like that you could work at some spy agency." you muttered.
"very funny."
"thanks, so i've been told." you grinned.
"you could've just used my room or something." murmured.
"and what? risk leaving you here to bleed again? i'd get in heaps of trouble if something happened to you, tsukishima."
"so that's why."
"and—"
"and?"
"i didn't want to go into your room without permission. it's rude and intrusive."
he cracked a smile. "are you implying something because i barged into your room?"
"what? no, i didn't mean it like that. you're a higher rank than me in the agency, so you'd have more confidential documents lying around that i'm not meant to see, right? i didn't want to stir up any trouble. besides, you're sort of like my landlord, i can't really say no even if you barge in here." you protested.
"stop rambling, i was kidding." he chuckled. "i'm not going to throw you out before the agency finds you a safe place to stay, so make yourself at home."
"okay." you nodded, "thanks."
"... you."
"huh?"
"thank you." he repeated quietly. "i owe you a bit."
you couldn't bite back a small smile. "you don't owe me anything. i was just doing my job."
"pretty badly at that." he added.
"hey, there was no need—"
"but you still saved my life, so..."
"you're welcome." you beamed. "now go back to sleep. you're supposed to be getting non stop rest."
"what will you do?"
"i've to finish some more reports. and i'll also be using your money to buy some stuff from the supermarket, since i haven't got my pay yet."
"i forgot how hard they train rookies."
"it's fine. i'll probably finish up in an hour or two."
"should i help?"
"with rookie work? no. besides you need some rest." you reminded.
"i can't stay in here all day. you said we needed groceries? we can go in my car when you're done working."
"but, your shoulder—"
"who said i'm driving?" tsukishima smirked.
"oh no. ooooh no. don't even think about it! just because you're injured doesn't mean i'll be your personal chauffeur."
"you're really going to make me stay indoors all day? i need some vitamin D to help me strengthen my bones grow taller and recover." he argued.
"you're already the size of the eiffel tower! what more do you want?" you retorted.
"come on l/n. you can't stay cooped up indoors all day either. and the grocery store isn't that close by, and there's no way i'd let you drive my car alone." he seemed to shudder at the mere thought of it.
"call yamaguchi or kageyama to keep you company then. i have sleep to catch up on." you grumbled.
"you're so fucking stubborn." he complained.
"tsukishima, those painkillers you're taking make you act like a child." you chuckled. "it's kinda cute."
"are you pulling moves on your superior right now?" he asked with his eyebrows raised.
"ew, god no. i'm not trying to get myself fired."
"there's no rule against agents dating, though?"
"please, you think i don't know that higher ranked agents find a way to get rid of exes when their relationship falls apart? i'm not a complete idiot."
"so it seems." he hummed.
"ok, now seriously. go back to sleep. i keep getting sidetracked by you." you left tsukishima's side and sat down at your table, attempting to regain focus on your work.
"good luck with that. i've made it my goal to annoy you as much as i possibly can." he declared.
"tsukishima, i swea—"
"starting now." he smirked, and immediately, loud music was audible all around the house.
"is this your way of convincing me to take you outside?" you inquired.
"yes."
"well, nice try, but i'm not leaving this seat." you stated and plugged in your own earbuds, in an attempt to block out his music.
"oh, you're on l/n."
