"yes sir."

"congratulations on making it to the final stage of testing. if you pass, you will surely be a promising agent." he was reading through your stats and your results from previous stages of testing and most of your results were above average. you appeared to have no weaknesses.

you nodded briefly. "thank you sir, i won't disappoint."

"i have high expectations for you." he stated, but before he could continue, an alarm was set off and red lights were blaring in the room.

a voice spoke through the speakers in the room, catching both of your attention. "attention. this is not a drill. i repeat, not a drill. all squad leaders, assemble your team and arm yourselves. those who have passed the testing stages may also join."

the man in front of you sighed and ran a hand through his slicked back hair. "you. come with me." he declared.

"but i haven't passed the testing—"

he stamped your documents and signed it mindlessly. "if you made it this far, you're good for something. if you prove me otherwise, i can just fire you. now quit complaining and follow me." he instructed.

"got it mr. ukai."

"where'd you hear my name?" he asked you, stopping in his tracks.

"sir, you just signed my trainee permit." you reminded him, holding up the documents that stated that you were now a trainee at the spy agency.

"right right." he nodded, "alright, follow me."

"where are we headed?"

"less talking and more walking young lady."

"understood." you responded and picked up your pace to match his long strides.

he reached a door and although his fingers moved fast, you managed to mentally take note of the pin.

7385. remember that, y/n.

you were still unsure if this was real. you just passed your final testing stage without any real testing. for all you knew, this situation could be another test to see how you coped under pressure.

"everyone take a seat immediately and pay close attention, there's no time to waste." the host informed. "for those of you who are new here, i'm kiyoko shimizu, and i'm head of handling confidential information. the rest of the introductions can come later, right now, there's a mission in our hands."

she inserted a usb into her laptop which was projected on a large screen, and began her report.

"frank lucas is back on radar. drug abuse rates are climbing the scales again, and we located one of the bases here in japan. the aim for today isn't capturing anyone, number one priority is destroying those drugs." that was the end of the explaining, kiyoko then proceeded to instruct and organise how the mission would work.

"squad leaders, please stand up and come to the front. the squad members who are present today, join your group. the new trainees will be randomly assigned to squads for today to gain experience, but heed this warning, you are to do nothing unless instructed to do so. there's supposed to be a trade happening at 11 p.m. make sure you're back here by then. dismissed."

the trainees, as she had said, were put into random squads and told to wear protective equipment for safety's sake.

you hadn't noticed before, but now that you looked around, the spy agency was short staffed that day. there were only five members in your group, you included, to go carry out this mission. two of which, would stay behind at the agency for communication purposes and to send emergency backup if necessary.

in the end, you were all set to go with your protective gear on and a loaded gun tucked into its pouch. your two team members, you soon learned, were called yamaguchi tadashi, and tsukishima kei.

"on missions you're required to call us code names. i'm star, and he's t-rex." yamaguchi explained to you. "you need one too, even if it's only for today. you can come up with an official one before your next mission."

"i'll be clover." you responded quickly. yamaguchi appeared confused at first but you spoke up again. "it's because i tend to get lucky."

he smiled in approval before leading the way outside. "since it's your first mission, just observe, alright? your job today is backup in case anything goes wrong, but just take this as a learning opportunity."

you nodded to let him know you were listening but your eyes constantly fluttered over to your squad leader who cleaned his glasses in silence. "he's not much of a talker is he?" you whispered to yamaguchi, causing him to chuckle.

"tsukki talks when he's in the mood. he's just focused on the mission for now. don't worry, he'll warm up to you."

"don't give the rookie any false hope, yamaguchi." tsukishima said monotonously and climbed into the passenger seat of the car that was outside and yamaguchi apologised before he got into the drivers seat.

you stayed quiet, not wanting to get on the bad side of the squad leader on your first day, but his words sure were cold.

despite tsukishima sitting in the passenger seat, he was no help at all with the driving and so you took it upon yourself to navigate according to the map that your phone showed. yamaguchi seemed grateful for your help and eventually your car arrived near the hideout. the place was loud and dark, and not to mention an absolute mess. there were boxes and cylinders everywhere. on the floor, stacked next to the doors and in many more places.

the two boys got out of the car quietly when other agents also arrived, but before they headed inside the creepy looking building, tsukishima pulled you out of the back seat and held open the front door until you got inside and were sitting at the drivers seat.

"if something goes wrong, you're the designated driver. be prepared." he said sternly and jogged off after the others.

"wait!" you called after him, but he didn't hear you.

"i can't fucking drive." you mumbled under your breath.

wtf i frfr dont like this chapter,,, this is boring and bland as hell but next chapter is gonna have a lot of crack in it and much more tsukishima interaction i promise ❤️
