Hoseok gave Cheyenne a smile. "I didn't know you lived here too," he said.
Cheyenne returned the smile. "Um...yeah. I just moved in. Yoongi gave me a ride earlier and told me that this was the same complex you lived in," she explained.
Jimin, Jungkook and their soulmate were standing there watching the exchange, interested smiles on their faces. Their soulmate turned to Cheyenne. "Jiminie, Kookie, Hobi and me were going to get food after Hobi changes. Why don't you come with us?" she asked. "We can get to know each other better."
Cheyenne gave the girl a sweet smile. "Thank you for including me, but I just picked up food," she said, holding up the bags in her hands.
The girl pouted. "Dang it. I wanted to spend more time with you," she said, her eyes downcast.
Jimin hugged her to his side. "Baby it's not like you're never going to see her again. I'm sure Cheyenne will join us for lunch again," he said, running a hand over her hair.
The girl brightened up at Jimin's words. "Will you? Will you eat lunch with us now?" she asked.
"I can do that. I... I had a lot of fun today," Cheyenne said.
"Okay. Since you're going to eat lunch with me, I won't force you to dinner tonight," the girl said, her bright smile back in place.
Cheyenne laughed but Hoseok held up a hand. "I'd take her a little more seriously. She's not lying about forcing someone. Why do you think I'm here right now?" Hoseok looked over at the girl, fake irritation in his face. "I could be at the studio right now, but NOOO! Someone had to demand that I come to dinner."
The girl bounded over to Hoseok, patting his arm. "Oh stop it Hobi. You know you wanted to come. I just gave you an excuse," she said.
Hoseok rolled his eyes. "I'm going to go get cleaned up and changed. I'll be down in a few," he said, unlocking the door and letting himself in. "Cheyenne, good luck with this one." He gave Cheyenne a wink and headed into the building.
Cheyenne looked back at the trio. Jimin and Jungkook were looking at their soulmate indulgently, knowing how good she could be at convincing people to do things. "Did Jiminie give you my number?" the girl asked.
Cheyenne shook her head in denial and the girl shot Jimin a look. He held up his hands in surrender. "Sorry baby. I forgot," he said.
The girl rolled her eyes, but it contrasted with her happy smile. "Don't mind my Jiminie here. He can be a little forgetful sometimes," she said, patting Jimin on the arm and kissing his plump cheek. "Let me have your phone and I'll put my number in."
Jungkook offered to hold Cheyenne's bags, while she dug her phone out of her pocket. Cheyenne handed it to the girl and she input her number, sending herself a text so she had Cheyenne's number too. Cheyenne took her phone and bags back then unlocked the door. "I... I guess I better get going," she said, not wanting to leave the trio just yet but not wanting it to seem like she was forcing them to spend time with her.
"Can I see your apartment?" the girl asked, her eyes bright and hopeful.
Cheyenne nodded. "Sure. I'm on the first floor overlooking the back garden," she said, leading the way into the building, Jimin, Jungkook, and their soulmate following behind her.
Cheyenne stopped in front of #102 and Jimin laughed. Cheyenne turned to him, her eyes filled with confusion. Jimin pointed to #101. "Hobi is your neighbor," he said, a smile on his face.
Cheyenne looked at the door next to her. Could that be true? Her soulmate not only lived in the same complex, but was her next door neighbor and in the same department at the university? Cheyenne shook her head to clear her thoughts and unlocked the apartment.
The trio followed her in, looking around at her neat and clean setup. "This is so cute!" the girl exclaimed. "I love how you decorated it and made it look so homey!" She saw the framed BTS photo on the shelf, Cheyenne in the center of the group, a huge smile on her face. "Oh my god! Are you a fan too?"
Cheyenne returned the smile as she set her dinner on the counter. "Oh yes! I met them last year when they were touring," she said. "My sister got me tickets and backstage passes for my birthday."
Jimin looked down at his soulmate. "We went last year too. She got me the same for my birthday. It sure was a fun evening," he said.
"I got pictures with Chimmy and Cooky," the girl said, pulling out her phone and showing the photos to Cheyenne. "They're my favorites."
"Mang is my favorite. He's such a good dancer. So amazingly talented," Cheyenne replied, laughing at the cute collection of photos.
Cheyenne stood and talked to the trio for a little while longer until they heard the door next door open. Jungkook opened Cheyenne's door and called Hoseok over.
Hoseok stepped into her apartment, a surprised smile on his face. "And we're neighbors too?" He asked.
Cheyenne nodded her head. "Looks like it," she replied.Jungkook tugged on his soulmate's hands. "Come on sweetheart. I'm hungry and if I don't get you out of here now, you're going to spend the next hour talking this poor girl's ear off," he said, wrapping an arm around her shoulder.
The girl gave him a pout then finally smiled. She hugged Cheyenne, startling her with the easy affection. "Kookie's right. Let me go get my boys fed," she said with a grin.
Cheyenne returned the hug. "Thanks for today," she said, her voice suddenly bashful. "You made my first day here so much easier and I appreciate it."
The girl patted Cheyenne's head. "I'm glad to hear that," she said.
With final goodbyes, Hoseok and the trio headed out of Cheyenne's apartment, leaving her alone in the silence.
Cheyenne picked up her food from the counter, pulling the containers from the bag. She grabbed utensils and a bottle of water then took her food to the coffee table in the living room. After turning on Netflix, she settled on a show to watch while she ate, thinking of the people she had met today.
***
Hoseok was in the car with the trio on the way to the restaurant the girl had chosen. She was sitting in the backseat, snuggled into Jimin's chest while Jungkook drove and Hoseok sat in the passenger seat.
"Chey is so nice," she said, playing with Jimin's fingers. "I wonder when she'll meet her soulmate."
Hoseok turned and looked at her. "She hasn't met her soulmate yet either?" he asked, his voice filled with interest.
"No," the girl replied. "She said her mark is still grey. She said they haven't had skin to skin contact yet."
"Have you seen her mark?" Hoseok asked.
The girl shook her head. "No. I get the feeling that soulmates are a touchy subject with her. I asked her about it at lunch and her eyes got a little sad," she replied, remembering their conversation.
Hoseok nodded. "Not everyone is as lucky as you pretty girl," he said.
The girl sighed and hugged Jimin even closer. "I know. I have two amazing soulmates and there are still people out there waiting to meet their own," she said, her voice melancholy.
Jimin kissed her softly. "It's okay baby. Cheyenne will meet her soulmate one day. She'll get to be happy too," he said. "I can feel it."
Jungkook gave her a smile in the rearview mirror. "Jiminie's right sweetheart. Cheyenne's going to be okay," he said.
The girl smiled and returned the kiss to Jimin then winked at Jungkook. "I know. I just wish everyone could be as happy as me," she said.
Hoseok gave her a sweet smile. This was one of the reasons she was his best friend. Her caring and compassionate nature was unlike many people he knew. He just hoped whoever his soulmate was accepted her in his life. He wouldn't want to choose between the two.
