A/N: Unexpected third update. Please make sure to read Chapters 11 and 12.
The next week passed by quickly. Cheyenne and Hoseok met twice to work on their routine and each time, they got a little more done. Cheyenne had done her best to ensure they didn't have skin to skin contact, but with the provocative moves they were doing, it was getting harder and harder.
Yoongi had been acting suspicious for the entire week. Ever since Monday at lunch, Cheyenne noticed him watching carefully. Whenever she avoided touching Hoseok, Yoongi would give her a strange look. There was something telling her that Yoongi knew but she didn't know how he would know or how to confront him about it. She thought of the only person that knew her secret, but then immediately brushed the thought from her mind. She wouldn't have told him. Cheyenne knew that without a doubt.
Yoongi couldn't deny that he had spent the week keeping an eye on Cheyenne watching for what would happen. He knew without question now that she was Hoseok's soulmate. The way she avoided his touch was too much of a giveaway. There would be no other reason for it. A week after the cookies, Yoongi saw Cheyenne leaving the college and getting ready to head home. She looked exhausted and lost in thought. "Chey!" Yoongi called out to her.
Cheyenne looked up, startled at the sound of her name, but smiled when she saw Yoongi heading over to her. "Hey Yoongi," she replied. "What's up?"
"Tae's in class. Want to get some dinner with me?" Yoongi asked.
Cheyenne gave him a smile. "Sure. What did you have in mind?" she asked, eager to not have to go home to her empty apartment yet.
"Well I usually go this café and then bring dinner home for Tae," Yoongi explained. It was one of his favorite places since the food was good and the service was impeccable.
"Sounds good to me," Cheyenne replied then gestured down to her clothes. "I would love to go home and shower first. Can I meet you there in an hour?"
Yoongi smiled at her politeness. "Let me take you home then I'll come back and pick you up," he replied. "I pass right by your place anyways on my way home."
Cheyenne hesitated then nodded. "Okay. That would be very nice of you," she conceded. She hated having to rely on anyone no matter how small it was.
As Yoongi drove her home, they made small talk. Yoongi was telling her a story of growing up on his grandparent's farm and the trick they played on Jimin. Cheyenne had tears in her eyes from laughing so hard. "Oh my gosh. That was so mean!" she said with a laugh.
Yoongi grinned at her. "Ehhh... he got me back. He pushed me into the lake in front of some girls from town. They had come over for a bonfire with my cousins. I was standing by the lake and Jimin came up behind me and shoved me in, shoes and all."
Cheyenne laughed at the pout on Yoongi's face. "You deserved it!" she declared, a smile on her face.
Yoongi pulled up in front of Cheyenne's apartment and she thanked him for the ride. "I'll come back in about 30-40 minutes," Yoongi said, looking down at his watch.
Cheyenne nodded then opened the door and climbed out. "Sounds good," she replied. "See you soon." She shut the car door then headed towards the door to her apartment, digging in her bag for her keys. The door opened just as Cheyenne approached and she had to take a quick step back to avoid running into Hoseok.
"Hey Chey," Hoseok said with a smile. Even though they had class together daily and they had met twice during the past week for practice, he still was happy to see her. He missed her presence when they were apart.
"Hi Hobi," Cheyenne responded. "Heading back to the studio?" She gestured towards the blue t-shirt and joggers he was still wearing.
Hoseok nodded. "Yeah. Working on a routine for my hip hop class performance next week. It's been giving me a little bit of trouble," he said, his voice showing his disappointment."Don't be so hard on yourself," Cheyenne said, her voice sweet. "You're an amazing dancer, so I'm sure the performance is going to be spectacular." Her words were true. Hoseok was much harder on himself then he needed to be. Several times on her way out of class, she would pass by the studio and notice him hard at work.
Hoseok smiled at her words. "Thanks for the encouragement. I appreciate it," he said gratefully. "Would... would you be interested in grabbing dinner later?" Hoseok rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment at the question.
Cheyenne felt disappointed because she would have loved to spend more time with him. "I can't. Yoongi asked me to grab food with him since Taehyung has a late class," she said, her voice conveying her reluctance.
Hoseok nodded. "What... what about tomorrow after we practice?" he inquired. He couldn't help sounding almost desperate but he couldn't deny the force that was pulling him to her.
Cheyenne gave him a bright smile. "I would love to," she responded immediately then looked down at her watch. "I gotta get going. Yoongi will be back soon."
Hoseok hesitated, not wanting to say goodbye to her, but finally relented. "Yeah. I need to get back to the studio," he said, his voice belaying his reluctance. "I'll see you in the morning."
They said their goodbyes and Cheyenne headed into the building. She unlocked the door to her apartment and entered, dropping her bag on the floor and heading straight for the bathroom. She turned on the shower then stripped down, dropping her clothes to the floor. After her shower, she wrapped a towel and went into her bedroom for a clean shirt and pair of jeans. She settled on a ombre blue sweater and a pair of light colored jeans. She slopped on the jeans then went to pull the sweater over her head when she caught sight of her mark in the mirror. The once grey music notes on her ribs were now a glossy black.
Cheyenne stumbled back, sitting down harshly on her bed. She directed her gaze down to her soulmate mark. Nothing had changed. The stark black stood out against her honey skin. She didn't understand what had happened. She had been so careful about touching Hoseok that she didn't even know when it could have happened or how.
Cheyenne pulled herself from her reverie and pulled the sweater over her head, getting ready in an almost mechanical way. Her mind was filled with thoughts of Hoseok. It was highly possible he hadn't seen his mark since it was on his spine. She didn't know what she was going to say to him or how to tell him.
Cheyenne was sitting on the sofa lost in thought when the doorbell rang. She shook herself out of her thoughts and headed to the door to let Yoongi in.
When she opened it, Yoongi was surprised by the confused look on her face. He knew right away that she had seen the mark and he was correct in his assumptions about who her soulmate was. "So," Yoongi said, his voice careful, "you're Hobi's soulmate huh?"
