Shoving his shoulder into the door to open it, the man rubbed his eyes with exhaustion. The slight stubble on his face irritated his skin and he scratched at it to try and relieve it.

The first thing that caught his attention was the constant flickering of the lights as he shut the door. In the light that shone every few seconds, he could see the absolute filth covering the walls and the toys scattered across the floor. He sighed and massaged his forehead. Small, quite giggles filled the house, and other than that, another (much louder) sigh sounded from around the corner in the living room.

He had a horrible day, and this was not how he hoped to spend his evening. Not one bit.

"I'm home," he said, and the lights immediately stopped, along with the giggles from the kids. A tuft of golden blonde hair poked around from the corner and an innocent smile was spread across a certain person's face.

"Hi, Laurance. How was work?" He asked, his smile faltering at the look on his face.

Laurance's face darkened slightly as if to say Do you really want me to answer that? and stalked up to Garroth.

"It's 11:30 at night, I had a hard day, this house is filthy, and the kids are still up at this fucking ungodly hour --"

"Laurance!"

"-- I'm hungry, if you must know. I'll put the kids in the bed."

Garroth bit his lip, looking like he was going to cry as he mumbled, "Okay." He hesitated before leaning up to Laurance anyway and placed a small kiss on his cheek. He walked into the kitchen as their two kids stuck their heads into the hallway.

"Hi Daddy," the younger of the two said, her pigtails looking sad. It was most likely from the pouty look on her face and her batting, innocent eyes staring into her dad's. It could also be the fact that she was rough-housing with her older brother for the majority of the day.

Her brother, however, didn't have any sign of forlorn on his face as he grinned up at the man.

"Daisy. Ben." Laurance said, letting his work bag fall harshly to the floor by the door. It made a loud slam! and Daisy flinched, her eyes going wide with tears welling in her eyes. Between her and her brother, she was the kid more in-tune with her emotions. She also noticed more things than him.

'Guess you always have at least one oblivious kid, right? Either that, or Ben just didn't care.

"Let's go," was all Laurance said before he placed his hands on the back of his kids' heads, leading them to their shared bedroom. They were so young it didn't really matter, and until they got old enough to split ways, the other bedroom downstairs would be for their play area.

Daisy looked up to Laurance with her big hazel eyes, still looking to be on the verge of tears. "Daddy?"

He lightly pushed both of them into the room and lifted her onto her bed, letting Ben take care of himself. He was basically independent, other than the goodnight kisses.

"Yeah, Lynn?" Her middle name, but Laurance loved calling her by it. It made him feel like he had a special connection with the kiddo, and he really did.

"Are you mad at me?" Her eyes finally leaked out the first few tears and her small arm wiped them away as quickly as possible.

As any father would react to his innocent daughter crying, Laurance's face softened and he gave her a faint smile, but it still showed that he was a little upset. "No, Lynn. I'm not mad at you. I just had a tough day at work, so don't you worry your pretty head about it, okay?" Without letting her respond, he leaned down and placed a lingering kiss on her forehead. "'Love you, Daisy. Night."
