Cadenza woke up in a jolt as she heard a thunderous sound beating against her front door down the staircase, making her slim frame fall in the floor. She let out a scream of surprise before checking the time on her clock that rested on her dark oak nightstand. The green numbers showed it was three in the morning, and almost four.

"Shit! Who the fuck is up at this ungodly hour?"

The fiery red haired girl groaned and got up from the floor, stretching the pain out of her back. She slipped a pair of shorts on, considering she slept with a simple shirt every night, and walked grumpily down the stairs to stop that goddamn noise.

She swung the door open and, without even looking at the person standing in front of her and keeping her eyes closed and head bowed she said, "Why don't you try to be a little louder. Only China can hear you!" Her eyes popped open with fury and her head shifted upwards, but her emotions were quick to change at the sight.

Her younger brother stood at the doorframe with an anxious and pain-filled expression. Dry tears on tan skin as he rubbed at his eyes to stay awake. His light blue eyes were dull, dull enough for you to think he really was blind. His hair was messy, as per usual, but something about the way he was presented showed that it was different in some possible way. Cadenza shifted her eyes to behind him, spotting Laurance's car, filled with tons of personal items shoved in, cramming up and looking like a jumbled up mess. Her eyes cautiously fell back to her broken brother, her expression now reflecting his.

"Laurance? What are you doing here? You should be sleeping. You have a job to get to in the morning, it's almost four, and why is all your stuff in the back of your car?"

His eyes widened at the girl's rant, for he had made her worry. And his guess was damn right. She was worried, and now she had fear accompanied with it. Laurance fiddled with the end of his t-shirt, something he did when he was nervous, and refused to make eye contact with his older sister. She finally sighed and moved out of the way for him to enter the house and he stepped in, finding his way to the couch located in the living room to the right of the black-ish door. He pulled the cotton blanket off the back of the couch and adjusted the throw pillow to his liking, settling in to the surprisingly comfortable black, leather couch.

Cadenza watched him settle in while tapping her foot impatiently on the expensive hardwood flooring that was plastered throughout her entire house, save from the kitchen and bathrooms. She pushed her hair behind her ear and raised an eyebrow at the brunet who was now staring back at her.

"Are you going to explain to me why you barged into my house at such hours?" A faint smirk appeared on his face, contrasting against his sad eyes.

"Technically, you moved out of the way and let me in."

"He speaks!" She giggled while Laurance let out a hollow chuckle. "But seriously, what's wrong with my brother? He almost never cries, and I don't know about you, but that's worth telling your sister about. Hmm?" Laurance's smile disappeared and he pulled the blanket to cover more of his face as he spoke.

"I don't really want to talk about it right now. Can it wait 'till morning, Cad?" He batted his eyes innocently and the slightly shorter girl shook her head disapprovingly, but leaned down to give him a kiss on his forehead and straightening back up.

"Alright, fine. Get some sleep, you've got work in the morning and I'm not being irresponsible and keeping you outta work. Night."

Laurance replied with the same goodbye note, closing his eyes and sighing deeply after she walked away and back up her flight of steps. One of two, that is. She had a good job doing what she wanted with her designer clothes line, Pacify, and that resulted in a decent house and no off-brand food in the kitchen. He was stupid to come all the way to another city, even though he told Garroth he would stay on the street. He was so fucked up, and the brunet knew this about himself. He was a screw-up, and he wasn't even wanted by his own parents. They tossed him aside like he was an empty bottle of Coca-Cola that they had almost slipped on. At least they would have checked to see if it had anything if it was beer, but he didn't really deserve that title, since his biological parents loved it so much. Probably more than they loved him.
