An eventful morning

The next time I woke up it was broad daylight and somebody had the nerve to snatch open the curtains. I hissed in aggravation. I tried to peek open an eye but it was too early for me.

"Whoever that is, had better shut the curtains closed before I rip your head off of your shoulders!" I yelled at them.

"Come on Elliara! Get up!" Said the woman, who I could know recognize as Natasha.

"Natasha I am going to kill you!"

"Not if you can't catch me!" I could hear the smirk in her voice.

She bolted out the door. I sat up with my eyes closed. And used my senses to navigate around the room. I finally found the curtains and pulled them closed.

I sighed in relief. That's much better. I opened my eyes and walked into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth. And combed my hair. I put on some light makeup. And put on a white tank top and some black distressed denim shorts that were about 7 inches above the knee.

Short but not too short.

I finished the outfit off with a grey zip-up jacket with a hood.

I sighed as I thought about Natasha's childish but effective antics. God, she might be the death of me.

I walked out of the bathroom, and turned all my lights off, as I walked out of my room.

I then continued to the living area of our floor. There I saw Nat waiting for me. She waved me over. And I smiled and walked to her.

"So you still want to kill me?" She smirked.

"Don't push it Red," I smirked back at her with a playful glare.

She grabbed my arm and led me down to the Avengers main floor. The floor where everyone ate together when they wanted to. Or watched a movie together, or where they had game night as well.

She led me to the kitchen area where Tony was explaining something to Bruce.

Steve And Bucky we're navigating around the kitchen. Steve being the cook and Bucky serving everyone.

Sam was chowing down on his food. Not paying attention to anyone or anything but his plate.

Wanda was talking to Vision.

Thor had a side serving of pop tarts. And was also choking down as his life depended on it.

Loki was reading a book while taking sips of his drink.

Clint was watching tv in the common area.

And there was some kid, trying to talk to Tony.

"Good Morning everyone," I called out.

Nat smiled at me. I suppose she knew I was trying to give everyone a chance and reach out.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at me.

It felt like everyone was judging me. Like I wasn't welcome. But then Steve laughed out loud and said,

"Good morning Elliara. How'd ya sleep?"

"How do you know she sleeps, Rogers? Maybe she doesn't sleep. Maybe She usually sleeps during the day?" Stark said like a know it all.

Steve looked bashful. "I uh... I don't know. I just assumed... that..." His voice faded off as he stopped talking.

"Exactly my point," Tony said triumphantly as he went back to eating his food.

"Relax guys she's just here to eat breakfast that's all. Then we'll be on our way." Nat came to my defense.

I nodded my appreciation. She smiled at me and winked.

"BREAKFAST?!" Stark stood abruptly from his seat nearly knocking his chair over. "Oh no, you don't! I've got garlic spray and I'm not afraid to use it!" He said holding up what appeared to be a can of mace.

Bruce groaned at his arrogance. Steve rolled his eyes and Sam laughed. Even Wanda thought he was being ridiculous.

I looked down at my feet. I wasn't welcome here. I used my enhanced agility to speed out of the room and out of the tower.

I'd just buy myself something to eat at a McDonald's or something. No biggie. At least out here, no one knew what I was, or who I am. I'm normal to these people. And they have no reason to treat me any differently.

I put my hood up and kept my head down as I began walking.

Humans are such a pain in the ass. Well most of them anyway. I mean sure I used to be human at one point but now I'm not. And I've lived my entire existence as a vampire, gaining knowledge and learning from others' mistakes and my own.

I remembered back when it was simpler times. When all you had to do was go to socialite parties and masquerade balls. When you only had to worry about who and when you'd marry.

Yes, I like the freedoms of this day and age but it was so much simpler when we were under the rule of kings and Queens. I nearly became royalty myself once.

My mother was a high-ranking lady of society back then. A lady of the court if you will. When the king at the time addressed her, asking her if she'd have the honor of being his son's bride.

However my mother declined stating that she was already wed, but her daughter was not.

The Prince was at least 16 years older than me. And I was only 13 at the time.

I ran from home and went to find my father. He was living in Kingston. While my mother was living in Charlestown.

My father took me into his care and I didn't have to worry about the pressures of society for a long time. That is until he passed. He left everything to me and my step-sister, Katia. I had just turned 17 while my step sister was 24.

So I was put into the care of a close friend of his. A man by the name of Barry Thatcher. He was an upperclassmen who was working a middle class men's job. He didn't like living too much of a luxurious life. He liked to earn what he got. And that he did.

I was snapped out of my thoughts as I noticed a man following me out of the corner of my eye. I turned into a nearby alley and transformed into a wolf. I hid behind a bunch of trash cans and waited until the man stopped looking for me.
