After a while, Loki broke the silence.
"I.. I am sorry. I should have understood that there must have been a reason, for your loneliness and being here instead of with them..." he whispered softly
I was still sobbing lightly.
He held me tightly.
I hated this. Showing weakness and vulnerability. Especially in front of him. In front of men in general.
I just wish I could turn off my humanity but if I did I wouldn't be able to right the wrongs of my past.
And I'd quickly be on the other end of the Avengers wrath.
Once I settled down he helped me up and held by hands.
He looked down at me and into my eyes. "If you need to talk I'm here for you. I'm trying to... be more... social? What I'm trying to say is I hope I can count on you to be a friend?"
"Of course Loki. I'm sorry I've been sending mixed signals about that. One minute you might think I hate you and the next that I'm your friend. But yes I am your friend. I'm just trying to figure you out. You have such character that it can be hard to pinpoint exactly how you are."
"How I am? And how would that be?" He chuckled amused.
"Well one minute you're cold, manipulative, angry, and calculating. The next you can be so kind, caring, supportive, and charming. You're so confusing. Half the time I don't know which you are. Are you cold and brooding or warm and welcoming? I don't know how to approach you because of it..." I rambled on.
He seemed quite amused at how baffled he makes me, and yet he also seems concerned.
"I cannot help but find you amusing, and yet it concerns me, if you are to be my friend, then you should know when to approach me. So from now on, you may approach me whenever you wish, and I will respond politely. I may not be the best... with expressing my... feelings, but that doesn't mean that I can't... try." He said, trying to be better.
"Thank you Loki that's means a lot to me."
"What are friends for?" He smiled softly
At that there was a knock on his door. He jumped back slightly startled at the sudden sound.
"Who is it?" He said sounding bored, but he winked at me to let me know it was an act.
"Brother! Have you seen Lady Elliara? Lady Natasha is worried about her and Banner is requesting she be taken to the infirmary!" He said through the door.
"No I have not. The last I heard of her she was in her room cursing."
"Ah of course! Thank you Loki!" He said
"Might I suggest you let her rest? Once she is ready I'm sure she'll visit the Med Bay." Loki responded through the door.
"You're right! Well I'm off to see My Lady! Fair thee well!" Thor said a little softer this time.
"He's gone now, Elliara." He said assuredly.
"Yes... I suppose I should visit the Med Bay now. I've..." I looked to the floor. "Fed... so I don't have any excuses left, not to go."
I said turning to leave.
"Lady Elliara?"
"Yes?" I said turning to look at him.
"I won't say a word of your... healing process." He pauses looking for the right phrase. "I give you my word."
I nodded and smiled as I walked out the door and closed it behind me.
"So chatting it up with the Prince of mischief eh?" Said Natasha leaning against the wall behind Loki's door with her arms crossed.
I jumped startled, not expecting her to be there.
"Umm yeah I was just telling him about what happened..."
"And?"
"And? How I'm not dead because of it?"
"Mhmm. Riiight. And you expect me to believe that?" She smirked.
"Yes." I said in a confident manner.
"Whatever you say Lady Elliara" Nat said teasingly. "So I'm assuming Loki somehow convinced you to feed from him?"
"What?!"
"Yeah seeing as how you're no longer clutching at your wounds and they seemed to have disappeared completely." She said pulling me to walk with her.
"And if I said yes?"
"I won't tell. But I have done my homework. Is it true?"
"Is what true?"
"That a special bond is created when you take blood from the vein of your victim..." she cleared her throat realizing her mistake. "Your Blood Donor?"
I grimaced. I never liked that term.
"Yes In someways. But the bond is also based upon the relationship you already have with that person. Or the relationship desired."
"Explain?"
"Okay let's say for example, Loki wanted to be my friend. It would make it easier to feel comfortable around each other and easier to become friends. But if he wanted to become lovers or significant others, both sides would have to want that, and then it would be as though we were married, but not really."
"Soo you're married now?"
"What?! No! Were you not listening?! I said if both parties want it! I don't want that! At least not yet. I barely know him! How could I possibly wish for him to be my lover if I know next to nothing about him?"
"Well you know his past, you've read his profile. What else is there to know?" Natasha shrugged.
"Nat... come on seriously? That file doesn't tell me anything I want to know. Like what's his favorite animal or his favorite food? What he likes to do in his spare time other than cause mischief. What is he passionate about? You know things like that."
"Ah I see. Well then why don't you just ask?"
"Nat?! What's the point of getting to know someone if all you're doing is looking at a piece of paper and taking notes?"
"Sorry, I've never been good with.. relationships." She sighed.
"Hey it's okay." I said putting my hand on her shoulder. "I'm here and maybe we can find you a boyfriend or someone to practice on?"
"Sure. What's the worst that could happen?" She laughed and sighed.
