Atticus' POV

A few days have passed since we stopped to rest and we have stopped for our final time, outside of Dark Moon territory. We all have agreed to stop and rest before we enter in case of an attack. My men are right I do not want to be weak for this. I need to get Zaraphine back and the only way I can do that is if I am at my strongest point. "Alpha." I hear a warrior from behind me. "Yes, Jax?" I question as I turn to face him. "With us being this close to the pack line do you want us to start a fire or no? We all have agreed that we can hunt and eat in wolf form if you believe it to be safer." He said with a bow. "That will be fine. Just make sure when you shift you stay away from the border. They can not know we are here. Keep a safe distance until you shift back." I order. 'Yes, Alpha.' Comes from all of my men through the mind link.

The sun has set and all of my men have eaten and are taking turns to keep watch. I know with what is to come I would never be able to close my eyes long enough to fall asleep so I have chosen to stay awake with my men and keep watch as well. I will hunt closer to morning. I need my wolf fully aware if we are going to pull this off with very few men. Just stepping foot onto Dark Moon territory is considering war without a prior invitation. Knowing what the outcome could be I wouldn't change a thing about my plan. The only goal I have is getting her back. If that means risking my life to save hers then so be it.

Watching the sunrise I knew we had to get ready and prepare for the battle that is to come. I set off away from the camp and shift before going for my hunt. I take off into a sprint making sure to move away from the border I crouch down when I hear rustling to the left about 100 yards away. I keep below the slightly tall grass only lifting the top of my large brown head to see what's in front of me. Looking ahead I want to run but I know it will fulfill my wolf enough for what is coming. It is just a matter of seconds before he will be able to smell me so I take my chance the second he turns his head to the left.

I lunge from my hiding spot and slide underneath the largest black bear I have ever seen in my life. Standing at about 7' maybe 8' on all fours. Quickly latching my canines into his jugular and shoving my now extended claws into his underbelly. With the same fluid motion, I rip his throat out and slice down his stomach. 'Quick and steady movements will always get you success.' My father always told me during my Alpha training. "Quick and steady. " I repeat in a monotone voice. He falls quickly never making a sound much to my pleasure. I quickly dig in before heading back to the territory line. 'Warriors, are you ready?!' I yell through the mind link. 'Yes, Alpha!' They all growl in unison. As a unit, as a pack we walk onto Dark Moon territory all shifted into our wolves walking in step never taking our eyes off of the packhouse that Lakota calls his home.
