Unknown POV
'She's amazing.' My wolf says. 'Yeah, she is. I have to tell Leo.' I tell him. As I'm walking away from the scene I hear her start yelling. 'Why does she do that every time she kills a wolf that's attacking her. She's just defending herself.' My wolf asks. 'I don't know. She's different I say before shutting him out.
I pull my phone out and click on Leo's contact. "Hello" Leo answers on the second ring. "Leo, she's perfect. You should've seen her fight today. She ripped a man's head clean off his shoulders. She barely even tried. Didn't even break a sweat!" I started rambling. "Wait! Did you say she ripped his off? So she's shifted? That's awesome man!" "No." I cut him off. "She did it in human form. She still hasn't shifted." I explain sadly. "Are you sure she's even a wolf, man? I've never heard of someone not being able to shift after 18. Maybe she's something else." Leo said with concern in his voice. "Yes, Leo! She is a wolf! That's what the witch said!" I barked at him. "I'm going for a run. I'll let you know if anything changes with her." I said. "Alright, man. Be careful."
Once I'm far enough away from her cabin I stop taking my clothes off, folding them, and laying them on a rock. I think of my midnight black wolf and start my shift. All I can hear are my bones breaking and rearranging themselves. My nose extends turning into a long snout. I drop to four legs as my tail sprouts out and fur starts growing all over my body. Once I'm fully shifted I let out a long howl letting my wolf take over.
I run through the woods, not getting too far from her cabin. I dodge through trees and fallen logs loving the feel of the wind in my fur. 'Someone's near.' My wolf tells me. I slow down to a trot as I ask him 'who is it?' 'I don't know. I can't get a good scent.' He tells me sounding slightly panicked. "You know you're not very good at stalking someone when the person you're watching knows you're there." Zara says as she steps out from behind a tree 10 yards in front of me. "Uhh. I'm not stalking you." I try to say confidently. "Come on, I'm not stupid. You've been around since I left Blue Moon." She states matter of factly. "So who wants you to keep track of me?" She questions. "How do you know I'm keeping track of you?" I ask. 'How did she know about us?' My wolf questions. "I smelled you. Your smell was all over the dress I got on my 18th birthday. Even after being gone your smell never left." She explains as if hearing my wolf. "Shift back, get dressed, and meet me at my house." She says walking away. 'Uh. I guess we should follow her. I'm intrigued.' My wolf tells me. 'Okay.' I respond. Immediately trotting back to my clothes.
I walk up to her cabin and go to knock on her door when I hear her call out "Just come in. I already know you're here." Cautiously I open her door and step in. "Don't worry. I'm not gonna kill you. I don't wanna dirty up my rug." She yells out. I follow the sound of her voice into the kitchen and see her separating what smells like deer meat. "Go ahead and sit. We can talk." She says without lifting her head.
I walk to the counter and sit down on the barstool watching her making sure this isn't a trick. 'If it were a trick I'm pretty sure we would've already been dead.' My wolf tells me with a bit of humor in his voice. "He's right ya know. If I wanted you dead I would've done it back in the woods." She says casually. "Why can you hear my wolf? How long have you been able to?" I question getting right to the point. "Since I first noticed you watching and I don't know why I can hear him or feel him." She tells me. "Wait! What? You can feel him? What does that mean?" I throw out questions.
