Making our way through the woods I can't help but feel nervous. Nobody has said a word since we left Lakota's pack. Atticus shifted back to his wolf, which I'm kind of thankful for. I mean don't get me wrong he is something to look at but it was also a little awkward. 'Just talk to him, dummy. You're making it weird.' My wolf scolds me. 'Oh shut up. If he wanted to talk to us he would've said something already.' I reply. 'Wuss.' She chuckles before I shut her out, focusing on where I'm walking.
We make it to what I'm assuming is his pack in about 3 hours of walking. Walking through his border we are met by a couple that looks to be in their mid to early '50s with salt and pepper hair. The woman is beautiful, dark brown hair with a few grey hairs here and there. She's kind of on the taller side standing about 5 or 6 inches taller than me. She is wearing a simple navy blue dress that reaches her knees with thin straps. The man standing next to her is even taller than Atticus, standing at about 6'3". He's got black hair with more greys than the women. You can tell he is in shape regardless of his age. Wearing dark washed blue jeans and a casual grey t-shirt.
"Son, I'm so glad you are back. Where is Cain? We have a lot to discuss, all of us." The man says looking right at Atticus. 'So this is his dad.' I thought to myself. "I'm sorry dear, my mate is rather rude. You can follow me and I'll get you some clothes so you can shift back." The woman tells me smiling warmly at me. 'Is she safe?' I ask my wolf. 'I think so.' She responds hesitantly. I slowly nod and begin following her across the yard to the packhouse. "Wait here, I'll be right back with some clothes." She says while walking through the doors.
While standing outside I begin to look around at my surroundings. It's nice here, there are big and small buildings all around the massive house I'm in front of. I try to smell how many wolves are here but I don't smell anything other than grass and pine. 'Hmm, that's odd.' My wolf says sounding worried. I didn't notice until now but even when walking back I couldn't smell wolves even though I was surrounded by them. "Here you go, dear. I hope they fit, you are quite small." She chuckles while handing me a pile of clothes. I take them in my mouth and walk to the side of the house going under a tree.
I shift back and put the clothes on that are quite big causing me to have to roll up the waist of the leggings she gave me. I walk back to the front and everyone is at the door already in human form and dressed. "Zara, there you are. I was beginning to think you ran away." I hear Cain's voice as he's walking towards me with a huge smile on his face. "Hey, Cain." I respond. "Let's go inside everyone. We have a lot to talk about." The older man says walking into the large house. I silently follow everyone in trying to stay out of everyone's way. "Zara follow us. " Cain says making his way up the stairs. I hesitate at first but follow them up and into an office.
Atticus sits behind a desk while Cain sits in front of him and his parents stand on the sides of him. "Sit down," Atticus demands. "Oh, so you do speak." I spit out a little harsher than I planned to, causing Cain to chuckle a bit. "Sit down, please." He huffs out. "Yes, Alpha." I say sounding annoyed. "I like her." Atticus' mom says while laughing causing me to smirk. "What is everyone's thoughts on tonight's rescue?" Attics questions getting right to the point. "It was too easy. Lakota let it happen. It was more of a test than a rescue. Which by the way you all failed. Miserably." I say harshly before anyone can respond. Everyone looks at me like I've grown a second head. "What? He asked, so I gave him an answer that you all are too scared to say." I spit out.
