Chapter 2 - Venue

"What was that for?" Nene asked, escaping the hiding place. She patted the dust off her skirt.

Pico felt jealousy aroused him. He's feeling that way because he used to do that to him and that the girl is doing a better job than him.

"Ya know, the venue is not that far from here. Wanna check it out?" Nene asked him.

"Venue what?" Pico repeated.

"I don't need your agreement anyway. Let's go!" She said, taking his hand and rushing to where the venue is.

"No! I think it's a bad idea. I have my gun with me," Pico excused himself. "You go on ahead."

Nene and Pico slowed down and stopped. She looked at him in suspicion.

"Pico, you always bring your gun and never get in trouble."

"I know, but..."

"You've been acting weird since we hid from nothing," she stated the obvious.

"Okay, I'll tell you. I wanna piss so bad, that's why."

"You're lying," she said, narrowing her eyes.

Pico doesn't know how to avoid this. He started looking around for another excuse. In that process, he accidentally locked eyes with Keith. His eyes widened, avoiding it right away.

"I just feel overwhelmed," Pico said.

Nene understood, but not what's behind it. She looked in Pico's direction, wondering why he was upset.

"Holy shit!" She exclaimed, pointing at Keith.

Pico ran away, but Nene grabbed a part of his sweater.

"Keith!" Nene called, waving her hand.

"Nene, that's my fucking ex," Pico mumbled.

"I know that. But I haven't seen Keith in such a long time. I miss his cute face, don't you too?"

"No," Pico denied right away.

"Pico, whatever you're feeling, it's in the past. Maybe a conversation will help you finally move on."

Keith nervously approached them. He held Cherry's hand for support.

"Oh hey, Nene... And Pico," Keith greeted.

Pico's body tense once he's inches away from him. He tried his best not to make eye contact. But after all these years of missing him, how could he not?

"Oh my gosh, are those ninja stars and battling knives?!" Out of nowhere, the prize AKA the girl. She realized what she had done, so she coughed.

"I'm sorry. I mean, are those ninja stars and battling knives?" She repeated but in a professional way.

Nene started talking to her, but she stumbled on every word.

"Long time no see, huh?" Keith said, smiling at him.

"Yeah..." Pico nervously chuckled, wanting to escape this awkward situation badly. "How's it been?" He asked.

He spotted lipstick on Keith's lips, making him a bit uneasy and upset. "...Nice lipstick, by the way."

"Well, it's been great. I got into a hobby and... Not that interesting stuff... And thanks..." He replied, wiping off his lipstick.

Pico forced a smile at him in return. He wanted to ask him a lot of questions. Like... Did your life become much better after we broke up? And many more but... what are interesting questions anyway?

"I'll see you in week 3," Pico told him.

"You're battling too?" He asked.

"Yeah. I wanna steal that hot chick of yours," Pico joked. He cringed, hoping Keith takes that as a joke.

He did fortunately. He wasn't upset or anything, but laughed instead. "Oh, Pico. You didn't change," he said, followed with laughter.

Pico wondered if it's a bad or a good thing. He tugged his sweater nervously. "Is it a bad thing?" He asked.

"Hey, Keith! It's been such a long time since I saw you. Last time I saw you, you were this short and cuter," Nene said, hugging Keith.

"You guys knew each other?" Cherry asked. "That's so cute!"

"Yep! In elementary. These two used to date--" Pico quickly covered Nene's s mouth, blushing furiously.

"--hate each other," Pico finished.

"Oh! You're that guy!" Cherry said, pointing at Pico.

Keith sucked his teeth, feeling as if he betrayed Pico in a way.

"No worries. I know your secret, and I don't mind," she said cheerfully. "So that's why you wanted to compete!"

Pico felt awkward that Cherry knew this entire time. Oh hey, here's your boyfriend talking to his ex-boyfriend.

"Because you wanna take Keith back?" Cherry added.

"...What?" Keith and Pico said in unison.

"Oh my gosh, that is a cute idea," Nene said, covering her mouth after as her eyes sparkled.

"NO, I don't want to take Keith back," Pico denied, embarrassed. He looked away, the thought of Keith not wanting him to haunt him.

"I bet that Pico is gonna win," Nene whispered audibly at Cherry.

"I bet that Keith is gonna win! He always wins," Cherry argued back.

They started to negotiate the value.

"Well, I bet that I will win," Keith said, smirking at Pico.

Pico glared at him in a nice way. Keith knows how he feels about competitions.

"If Keith wins, then he gets to date his ex! So cute and amazing," Nene said. "No offense, Cherry. I mean..."

Cherry said it was fine. It looks like they broke up their relationship but chose to stick together.

Pico looked at Keith, thinking that his expression was saying that... He doesn't want to be with him. Pico has to win the battle. He has to.
