I am an ordinary 20 year old girl named Elizabeth Clark. I'm 5'5", I have long extremely dirty blonde hair, or as I think is a light brown hair, with light blue eyes. I live in Kentucky with my mom while my dad lives in Ohio with the rest of his family. I am a Tom-boy. I love riding horses, shooting my bow, fishing, and driving ATVs.
That Summer afternoon I was at my grandparents farm with my best friend Nichole. We were riding my grandparents horses Toby and Stinger, laughing and having a good time, until we saw the fog. We turned as we heard screams and saw a huge thick fog slowly heading our way. The horses where spooked and tried to run and we quickly tried our best to calm them down. As I looked at the fog I watched as several people tried running away from the fog but they were engulfed by the fog and screams from them. I immediately turned to Nichole and told her to run. There was no time to get to our trucks so we had to ride the horses. We quickly urged the horses on and jumped the pasture fence and rode. Once we got far enough away for the fog where we felt safe we stopped and allowed the horses to rest.
"What the hell is that!?" Nichole yelled frightened
"I don't know but whatever it is, it's dangerous and I don't wanna find out what happens when you're in there." I replied
After a few moments Nichole looked at me worried and asked " what are we gonna do, my parents and your dad and brother are in that fog, where are we gonna go? We can't ride forever."
After a moment of deliberation I replied. " My mother's house is in Kentucky of we can ride over there and get across the bridge we can rest there while we can try to figure out what's happening."
"OK then let's go"
After a few more minutes rest we urged the horses on again. We rode 3 more hours until the sun set and we were only an hours ride from the bridge to Kentucky.
"The fog is pretty far behind us now, we should stop and rest for the night, it's gonna be too dark to navigate the way to the bridge anyways," I said "we'll camp here for the night. I'll get some firewood and get us a fire started and I'll try to see if I can find something to cook and some water."
With that I gave Toby's reins to Nichole and took off into the woods. About an hour later I had a nice fire started with a rabbit cooking over the fire. I was cleaning my knife when Nichole came over and sat next to me.
"The horses are untacked and I just gave them some water, they're all taken care of for the night." Nichole said.
"Good, we'll leave tomorrow at first light to head to the bridge. Dinner is almost ready, hope you like rabbit."
I finished cooking the rabbit and we ate and went to sleep using our saddles as pillow and using the saddle pad as a blanket. As the sun rose we woke up with a terrible realization the fog was only a couple miles away. We quickly got up and saddled up our horses and took off for the bridge, the fog right behind us. We finally saw the bridge in sight but there were people all over the bridge panicking trying to get off of the bridge. We finally got on the bridge and pushed our way through to the other side of the bridge. But I watched as a neighbor I knew fell on the bridge and was struggling to get up with all the people rushing by them. I quickly did an emergency dismount off Toby and ran to my neighbor's aid as Nichole and the horses kept running.
"Grace come on we can't stay her, we have to go!" I shouted as I helped Grace up and we ran.
Then suddenly I realized the fog was right behind us and pushed Grace to the other side of the bridge, where her and Nichole watched in horror as I was engulfed by the fog.
