The Fog

Chapter 26

As soon as he said he was going to kill Michael something inside me went off. I somehow got loads of strength and jolted up sending Trenton flying. I walk over to the cart and grab a huge knife. I walk over and see Trenton frantically looking everywhere, he scoots over to the wall so his back is to the wall. I quickly end up in front of him and plunge the knife into his chest.

"You hold no power over me anymore Trenton." I watch as he takes his final breath. I quickly rush over to Michael and untie him. He stands up and stumbles but I catch him. I help him walk out and we head back to the fortress.

"What in the world happened back there?" Michael asked as he lays down in the backseat of the car.

"I killed Trenton and rescued you." I say as I start bandaging his wounds.

"No I mean you disappearing, and like teleporting, and throwing Michael off of you." I get confused at what he's saying.

"What?"

"You somehow turned invisible, teleported, and had duper strength Elizabeth." Ethan said looking back at me from the front passenger seat. I was shocked at what he said and sat down on the floor of the car.

"What?" I couldn't process what he was saying.

"You have superpowers princess." Michael says with a smile on his face. I look between the two of them in shock. I. Have. Powers. I repeated to myself over and over again. We got to the fortress and I walked inside, I was so consumed with my thoughts that everything seemed to drown out. I walk to the garden and stop. I was quickly stopped from my thoughts when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turn and it's Ethan.

"Oh sorry, yeah I should've helped you with Michael." I rub the back of my neck and start to walk towards the house when Ethan gently grabs my arm stopping me.

"Michael is fine, he's being treated for his wounds. Sit down, I have to tell you something." He guides me to the bench and we sit down.

"Remember when your mother told you I was from a strange land," I nod and he continues, "well the land I come from is call Hidden Valley, it's a small hidden village, where special people like me and Michael are from. But apparently you're special too."I look at him surprised.

"Why the hell didn't you tell me I have powers?!"

"Because I wasn't sure you had powers. Normally at the age of ten you show signs of having powers and you have to be trained or you will most likely lose control of them and die at the age of eighteen. So I assumed that you were still alive that you didn't have powers, I guess you're just a really late bloomer so we have to get you trained as soon as possible." I nod and get up to go check on Michael. I walk in our room and see he's asleep so I climb into bed next to him and read a book. I read for almost two hours when Michael wakes up.

"Hey, you're up. How are you feeling?" I ask as I turn to look at him.

"Better, the pain pills are really helping." We laugh.

"So Ethan told me about Hidden Valley, and that people with powers are from there. So what powers do you have?" I looks at me with a hint of sadness.

"I can control metal. Hence why I'm so good at throwing knives." I nod and he uses his power to bring his ring off my nightstand and onto his finger.

"So why didn't you tell me?" I look away a little hurt I just found out.

"Because we had to swear we'd never use our powers in front of normal people, only in front to others who had power or if we were in serious danger. I really wanted to tell you but I could have gotten in serious trouble." He goes and holds my hand.

"So why didn't you use your powers to escape from Trenton?" I ask looking at his face.

"Because he had me under a power dampening light so it left me powerless under the light." I nod and Michael strokes my cheek. "But now that you have powers I don't have to hide them from you, we'll get you trained, and you can even go to the valley now." He smiles and it makes me smile at how happy he is. I kiss him and go take a shower to clear my head. I'm enjoying the hot water on my back when I feel a hand with a cold ring wrap around my waist. I turn and see Michael and smile. We shower together and then climb back into bed and watch TV.
