I rush to the kitchen to see that Michael had dropped a glass cup.
"Sorry, it slipped out of my fingers." He says looking at me with a sorry expression on his face. "I didn't mean to scare you." He walks over to me and embraces me in a huge hug. I burry my face into his chest, relieved. I was so worried when I heard the crash, a million different scenarios filled my head as I rushed to Michael. I was so scared that something had happened and I wasn't able to protect him. I loved Michael but I was scared everyday that I might lose him, and the thoughts killed me that I might.
"I'm just glad you're okay." I eventually say. Michael pulls away a bit to look at my face and he puts one hand on my cheek and wraps the other around my waist.
"It will take a lot more that a little glass to get rid of me." He says which makes me laugh a little.
"Come on let's get you warmed up." With that I realize how cold I am but Michael picks me up in his arms and carries me to the bedroom and sets me down on the bed. He picked out a nice navy blue tank top and a comfy pair of sweatpants. He helped me get dressed and gave me a piggyback ride to the kitchen. We ate some soup as Michael was able to get the wood-burning stove on. We talk and finish our dinner. I try to help Michael clean up but he doesn't let me. As soon as he finishes he runs over to me and scoops me up out of my chair and runs to the bedroom with me still in his arms. He gently tosses me on the bed and I laugh. I lay down and Michael climbs on the bed and lays down on top of my chest. He wraps his arms around my waist and closes his eyes as he drifts off to sleep. I lay there staring at the ceiling for a while until sleep came over me and I fell asleep too.
I wake up the next morning to the smell of something cooking. I open my eyes and see Michael is not in bed with me. I get up and walk into the kitchen rubbing my eyes.
"Morning beautiful." He says still cooking whatever he's cooking.
"Mhm." I say and sit down at the table. He walks over and places a plate in front of me with biscuits and gravy.
"Where did you get this stuff?" I ask him surprised to see food that wasn't from a can.
"The cabinets still have loads of food that's not expired surprisingly." He sits down next to me and puts his hand on the inside of my thigh as we eat.
"We still need to figure out where we are." I say as a shovel a mouthful of food into my mouth.
"I actually think I know where we are, I thought this place looked familiar until I realized why this morning. When I was a kid me and my mom would come to this cabin, just us and spend a weekend here once every month. I loved it but after her death I wasn't allowed outside anymore, until I met you. I don't know how we got here exactly but I know where we are." I smile and grab his hand.
"If you want we can stay here for a couple more days and then get back out there." I say looking into his eyes as his face softens.
"I'd love that." He says as he kisses my hand and continues eating. We finish breakfast and I clean up, I go and sit on the couch and a little while later Michael sits next to me with a book in his hand.
"What's that?" I ask as I point to the book in his hand.
"It's a photo album of me and my mom." He says as he pulls me into his lap and opens the album in front of us. As he flips through the pages I see him as an adorable kid and a beautiful, tall woman with long brown hair. I couldn't believe that his mom, who was gorgeous, was married to his dad.
"Wow, she's beautiful." I say
"Thanks, she would've loved you." Michael says as he pulls me closer to him and rests his head on my shoulder.
"Well she would be proud of the man you've become today." I say as I turn around in his arms and kiss him.
