Kyra POV
"Hey Magna. Let's fight! No holding back!"
"Nine thousand eighty-two..."
"No way you battle obsessed freak."
"Nine Thousand eighty-five..."
"How about Silvantus Schnauzer."
"Nine hundred eighty-nine..."
"That's boring, why not something good like 'wine'."
The commons room of the guild was full of life as multiple members discussed what Asta should name is newfound bird friend, while usually loud boy tried to concentrate on his one-handed pushups.
I watched the commotion from my seat next to Gordon—who was trying his best to insert his opinion in his whispered words. This had been going on for the past half an hour or so. No one seemed to agree on a name for the anti-magic bird,
"I will allow you to borrow a single letter from the name of my little sister, the goddess Marie. The letter you are blessed with is 'M'." I sweat dropped at Gauches words.
No one else seemed to bat an eye at his sister obsessed words and instead ignored him to put in their own two cents. I had planned to stay out of the conversation and let them come to their own agreement but the longer the convo went on the worst my ever-growing headache became. So once Gordan was overlooked for seemly the eighth time I cut in, "How about Nero? He's an anti-magic bird and Nero means zero." I explained, refraining from massaging my temples in a visible sign to show I was growing annoyed.
"Ah, actually Nero means black- "
Lucky was cut off by Asta jumping up, magna who was on his back flying off in the processes. "That's a perfect name for him! As expected of my future bride, Kyra you're so smart!"
"But isn't Cero the alternate word for zero, not Nero- "This time I was quick to cut the lightening user off out of embarrassment.
"Ah, that's' true to zero in English is um Nero, but it's not that well known because...um...I-it's hard to pronounce with an English accent." It was an obviously bullshit answer but thankfully no one called me out on the lie.
Raising my hands, I pat that my surely rose-tinted cheeks in an attempt to calm myself. I took a few deep breaths before I felt calm enough to lower my hands. "Well, the bird seems to approve so Nero it is." Noelle huffed, her arms crossed, upset her name for the bird wasn't chosen.
Before anyone else could speak, Captain Yami's voice filled the room, "All right listen up." The smoker said as he stepped out of the portal, Finral on his heals while everyone greeted the Captain, asking about why he was summoned to the Castle. Once it was semi quiet, the buff man spoke once more. "I have an announcement for you all. A new dungeon has been discovered."
It was quiet for two heartbeats before Magna broke the silence, "A new dungeon?! Are you serious, Mister Yami?!"
Seeing his senpai's excitement seemed to rile up Asta who let out a loud yell before asking what a dungeon was, this resulting in both Noelle and I facepalming while others scolded and/or mocked the boy for being excited about something he doesn't even know.
I listened half heartly as Magna explained to Asta was a dungeon was, excitement clear in his tone. By accident, I found myself zoning out of the convocation, my mind wondering to Yuno and the letter he had sent that arrived earlier this morning. I thought about how he said people in his guild looked down on him simply because he isn't wealthy nor was a part of a noble lineage, how he would constantly shut them up in training with his strong magic. I let out a small sigh, from what I read, Yuno was growing stronger by the day along with Asta. Unable to stop myself, I felt fear crawl into my stomach and mix with the self-doubt that was already flooding my senses, both of them were trying their hardest in their race to see who will become Wizard King, constantly pushing themselves to grow stronger everyday but what was I doing?
