First Mission

[Please tell me the whole chapter posted. Because it's showing me a half a chapter but the word box says almost 2000 words. So I'm taking a leap of faith.]

Kyra POV

"Tell me again exactly why we are on this mission?" I muttered out as I watched Asta kill the last wild boar. 

"I'm not sure either, something about manliness and responsibility and some other lies to cover up this gamble gone wrong," Noelle answered as she walked beside me, the two of us behind Magna and Asta as they carried the boars. 

Sighing, I slowed my pace in order to take in my new surroundings as I thought about the mission. 

Captain Yami said that this mission was a favor for a friend of his and that we were to do something about the wild boars that were in the mountains near the village. 

He also said this would serve as a warm-up mission for us newbies. After being told of the mission Magna broke us off into two groups, Noelle and I, then Magna and Asta since the two of them were unable to fly a broom on their own. Noelle because of her lack of control over her magic and Asta for his lack of.. well, magic. 

The whole ride towards the village was filled with Asta´s complaints about how unfair it was that Noelle rode on my broomstick while he was forced to ride on Magna´s. As a result, the two muscle heads started a pointless argument, annoying Noelle and I to no end. 

Upon arriving in the forest that the wild boars were spotted, the three of us were forced to kill all the boars while Magna rested, claiming he had to rest from the journey, however, once I offered to cast my support magic on him to help replenish his mana faster, he declined under to statement that this would be a good lesson and bonding time for us newbies. 

It took us around 30 minutes to kill all the wild boars, after all where Magna told us to grab them so we can bring them to the Saussy Village to fest on. Noelle didn't grab any since it's ¨Not a royals job to do such things.¨ Magna and I both grabbed one while Asta carried three of them on his back. 

I listened as Magna told the three of us how he knew the Mayor of Saussy Village. From what the older teen said, the Mayor seemed like a nice man who inspired him in multiple ways. 

As we neared the village, Magna came to a pause, the rest of us doing the same as we looked down at the village below. Saussy Village was covered in a mist that was created by magic due to the shape and thickness of the mist. 

¨Wow, the weather sure is terrible here.¨ Asta spoke up, looking at the village in shock. 

Noelle elbowed him before hissing out, ¨Itś obviously magic you idiot!¨ 

¨Whatever it is, we need to check it out, I´m getting a bad feeling about that fog.¨ Nodding our heads, we left the boars on the ground before following Magna towards the village. Crossing the bridge, we all stopped just before entering the mist, ¨Asta, use your sword to cut through the mist.¨ 

¨Sure thing,¨ Asta walked up to the mist and was about to pull out his sword before pausing, ¨Thats a dumb thing to say, you cant cut through the mist with a sword. Haha.¨

¨You´re the dumb one, its magic so you can cut through it!¨

¨Oh right.¨ Asta yelled as he cut through the mist. In mere seconds the mist was dispelled, just in time for us to see sharp icicles about to drop on kneeling villagers. 

Acting quickly, I pulled out my grimoire before casting a defense spell, ¨Dark Matter: Earth!” Before anyone could move, a large nearly transparent blue and green barrier covered the villagers just as the icicles came down.
