"Renèe, come downstairs please." mums voice echoed around my room. I hated it when mum used the transmitter to talk to me.

"Busy." I replied as I typed on my IPhone.

"NOW please." Mum said sternly. I sighed, flung my IPhone onto my bed and made my way downstairs.

"Hey Mum." I smiled at my neat-as-a-pin mother. Her ebony hair scraped into a tight bun. She was wearing her usual black and White pinafore with suede boots.

"Your Father is on the phone. He wants to know if you are to go with him to Frace this weekend?" Mum said hurriedly.

"I though he was in egypt all this week?" I asked as I lent on the highly polished oak staircase.

"Well things got changed, so should I say that's a no?" Mum asked.

"Umm... Tell him yes." I smiled and went back upstairs. Luckily my room was only on the second floor so I didn't have to climb that high. In my room, Marie was hanging up my clean clothes.

"Bonjour." I said as I collapsed on the bed. Even though Marie has lived in America for two years she wasn't bothered to learn the language.

"Bonjour. You shirt." she pointed to my blue jeans from Spain.

"My jeans. Trousers." I said pointing to my jeans. I unlocked my IPhone and tapped in a couple of words.

"Pardon, errr... Sorry?" Marie asked puzzled.

"Yeah sorry!" i glanced at my BlackBerry. 7 new messages.

"Ok, au revoir." Marie hung her head and exited. I felt sorry for her really. Her family were all living in France but she had to work in America to get money for her sick brother, Marcell.

I rolled off the bed and went out into the hallway. "Marie?" I called out. Marie popped her head round from the airing room. "Here." I pressed a ten dollar bill into her hand and smiled. "Buy yourself a cake or something."

"Pour moi? Un gateaû?" Marie's face lit up and she ran down the stairs. I watched her as she glided down the next hallway and out of the house.

"Renèe?" Mum shouted to me once more.

"Yes?" I asked, a little annoyed.

"Where did Marie go?" Mum asked, fustration etched on her face.

"Oh I told her to go and get a cake... For me." I lied and stormed back upstairs. When did I ever get a minute of peace? I finally collapsed on my bed and looked at my BlackBerry messages.

One was from my Aunt talking about her latest holiday (Yawn) one from my friend Janice about how she is bored (Not my problem) four from my cousin Alice, talking about her boyfriend James (She's been with him for a year now, so talking about him isn't anything new) and finally one from dad, talking about the French trip on the weekend. We were going to leave at 5 Friday evening and get back around 8 on the Monday evening.

Suddenly my IPhone rang.

"Yeah hi?" I sighed. I never get a second to myself.

"Renèe! You didn't reply to my text." Alice moaned.

"Sorry that I have a life Alice." I snapped.

"What's up with you? I know things are really hard for you right now what with the break up and stuff but there is no need to snap at me like that." Alice whined.

"Sorry... I just...Listen talk tomorrow? I'm kinda busy right now." I lied.

"Oh yeah sure. Ok well see you!" Alice disconnected the call. I switched off both my IPhone and Blackberry and fell asleep.
