Chapter 21 - Summer Solstice Day Two

Natsu's POV

It's only been ten minutes into the meeting and I'm having trouble keeping my anger inside. The meeting is held inside a dead-end canyon at the top of the mountain. Three levels of flat jagged stones climbed the side of the wall like stairs. The top level of the stairs is reserved for the Alphas while the second level is reserved for the Betas. The bottom level is for any lower ranking wolves but it's rare for any to be allowed into the meeting unless it's necessary.

Sitting at the head of the meeting was Jura, Alpha of Lamia Scale. Every year the packs take turns in running the meeting and this year it's Lamia Scale's turn. Across from where Fairy Tail sat was Sabertooth. It was hard to restrain myself from jumping over there and starting a fight. Under Jiemma's rule, Sabertooth has been a horrible pack. In the past Jiemma has started fights between packs outside the Fiore alliance like the Celestial pack. Plus, they don't act like a family like a true pack should be.

"Scouts from my pack have found information about a new threat to our territories. Rogues have been gathering and forming an army. Our scouts overheard them planning to take over our territories" Jura announced. "How should we proceed with this new information? Sniff sniff" Ichiya, Alpha of Blue Pegasus, asked. "Wouldn't it be wise to strengthen our packs defences and come up with a plan of attack if they decide to attack?" Erza suggested. "I agree with Beta Erza's suggestion" Kagura, Alpha of Mermaid Heel, said. "I second that" Ichiya added.

"I suggest we attack them without mercy and wipe them out" Jiemma suggested. 'Spoken like a true tyrant' I thought as I secretly rolled my eyes. "Would you like to contribute anything Alpha Natsu?" Jura asked, wanting to hear my opinion. Everyone turned their attention to me. "I agree with Beta Erza's suggestion, but I don't think we should wait for an attack. We should take down their army before they can build up their strength" I replied.

With three plans were on the table, we now needed to vote on which one we should follow. "All in favour of Alpha Jiemma's plan?" Jura asked and only the wolves from Sabertooth stood up. "All in favour of Beta Erza's plan?" he asked and no one stood up. This led to one thing. "All in favour of Alpha Natsu's plan?" he asked and everyone except for Sabertooth stood up. "That's fourteen to two for Alpha Natsu's plan" Jura announced. "Now we must discuss a plan" he added, and we spend the rest of the meeting discussing our plan of attack. Luckily that distracted me from my anger towards Sabertooth.

After the meeting, we were descending the mountain and I groaned in delight. "So glad that's over" I commented. "Great job Natsu. That was a brilliant plan you brought up in there" Erza praised. "Yeah, I have to agree. I'm surprised an idiot came up with it" Gray added. Did he just call me an idiot! "What did you call me Frosty?!" I shouted. "I called you an idiot, Flame for Brains!" he shouted back and I pounced on him. Both of us rolled down the remaining length of the hill as we fought until we crashed at the bottom. We crashed with me on top while Gray was lying underneath me sideways.

We groaned from the crash and then heard someone laughing. Looking up, we saw it was Lucy laughing at us. "Are you two done?" she asked with a giggle. I'm glad she's laughing, even if it's at me, because she seemed a bit uptight since we got here. I wonder what caused her better mood? "Urgh, get your fat butt off of me" Gray groaned, reminding me of his annoying presence. I stood up and made sure to secretly kick his side as I got off him. He groaned and then muttered "jerk" before standing up.

"Did you get dinner?" I asked Lucy. I was starving after that long boring meeting. "Always thinking with your stomach" she chuckled but smiled. "Yeah we did" she added and then we followed her back to our clearing. In our clearing was Wendy standing behind two deer carcasses, five rabbits and a pile of strawberries. She was smiling brightly as we walked over. "Woo! Now, this is a feast!" I cheered as I ran over to the food. "Lucy hunted the deer all by herself while I hunted the rabbits and gathered the strawberries" Wendy said, and I was shocked along with Erza and Gray. We were surprised that Lucy took down to deer all by herself. "You hunted two deer all by yourself?" I questioned and Lucy shrugged. "I needed to burn some energy" she replied nonchalantly. I was amazed Lucy hunted the deer all by herself but I'm not too surprised since I knew she had experience as a Rouge.

"Whoa, great job Lucy" Gray complimented. "Let's eat" Erza said, drooling over the strawberries and then we all began to eat the deer. Lucy and I shared one deer while Gray, Erza and Wendy shared the other one. As I was eating, I noticed Jiemma was staring at Lucy while ripping into his own deer carcass. I secretly glared at him and he calmly turned back to his meal. I'm hoping he hasn't recognised Lucy yet.
