Lucy's POV
It's been three days since we came back from the Summer Solstice and the excitement has finally died down. I was picking some berries with Wendy and Levy when Erza walked up to us. "Picked any strawberries yet?" she asked. "We saved you some over there" Levy replied gesturing to a small pile saved for her, knowing she would come. Erza licked her lips as she stared at the strawberries.
"Oh, before I forget. Lucy" she called and I turned my attention to her. "Could you wake Natsu up for me? It's my turn to watch Laxus today" she asked. "Sure" I replied and then started heading to Natsu's den. "Thank you Lucy. Also make sure he does his Alpha duties" she called out after. "I will Erza" I replied. As soon as I was far away, I heard the girls giggling for some reason.
As I was within earshot of Natsu's den, I heard loud snoring coming from inside. The closer and closer I got, the louder and louder the snore. It sounded like a bear was sleeping inside. I peeked inside and found the source of the snoring coming from a pink furry wolf in the corner. I walked in and noticed he was lying on his back, legs spread out and his head tilted back. I smiled at how cute this idiot is.
It's almost midmorning and he was the only one still sleeping. We must have the laziest Alpha in all of Fiore...but he is the most dependable. "Wake up Natsu" I cooed as I lightly nudged him with my paw. "Mm five more minutes Igneel" he grumbled as he turned over with his back to me. "Come on Natsu. It's time to wake up" I cooed and nudged him again but this time I only got a groan.
I thought about how I could wake him up and then remembered how much he loved food. I sat down beside him and started talking in a fake disappointed tone. "Well...I guess Natsu doesn't want to eat the delicious deer that's laying right outside his den just for him, waiting for him to eat it." As soon as I finished, he leapt up and bolted out the den. "Where's my deer?" he asked in confusion and I giggled. That was almost too easy.
I walked out of the den and he turned to me like a sad little puppy. "Lier" he complained. "If you woke up the first two times then I wouldn't have had to lie" I smiled. "At least it's better than waking me up by hitting my head or biting my tail" he sighed. I'm guessing that's how Erza and Gray wake him up. "Erza was the one who sent me to wake you up. She wanted me to make sure you do your Alpha duties" I told him, and he groaned. "I don't want to" he whined and then he gasped in excitement. "I have an idea. Come on a run with me" he suggested excitedly. "Erza's going to kill both of us if she finds out, you know that right?" I said, thinking of how Erza is going to react if he doesn't do his Alpha duties.
"Come on, she won't even notice we're gone" he begged which made it hard to resist his puppy dog eyes. "Fine..." I playfully groaned as I walked a few steps away and then turned my head to look at him. A playful grin grew on my face. "If you can catch me" I playfully said and then ran at full speed towards the open forest. I heard his chuckle behind me before hearing his footsteps follow after me. Soon he caught up and we smiled at each other as we ran side by side.
Running through the forest felt exhilarating. No destination in mind and all of our worries left behind. The earth beneath our paws and the wind against our fur felt amazing. We jumped over fallen trees and the occasional rock. Out of nowhere, Natsu's face turned determined for a moment. "Follow me" Natsu said with a smile and then turned in a different direction. Without hesitation, I followed after him.
He led us to the place we first met. Where he found me badly injured. I still remember that day clearly. After my run-in with the three male Rogues, I ran as far as I could from them until I collapsed here. I was in so much pain that I couldn't move. My first thought was 'am I going to die here?' and I was scared. I didn't want to die yet. I don't remember how long I was lying there. When Natsu appeared from behind the bush, fear flooded my body. I knew I was near Fairy Tail's border and that he would be a pack member. I was so scared that he was going to kill me while I couldn't move but then he surprised me by not killing me and healing my wounds. I will be forever indebted to Natsu for saving my life and for giving me a new pack.
"Why are we here?" I asked and then I noticed Natsu was a little nervous. "Ah, I have an important question to ask you" he replied. I wondered what he was going to ask me. It must be very important since I've never seen him this serious and nervous before. "Lucy, when I met you right here, in this spot, I thought you were the most beautiful she-wolf I had ever seen, and I had a feeling deep inside me wanting to help you. As the days went on and we got to know each other, you become more and more perfect. Right in this moment, I have no doubts at all" he said sincerely. 'He's not going to say what I think he's going to say is he?' I thought in surprise. "Lucy, will you do me the honour of becoming my mate?" he asked the question I was waiting for.
There was no doubt in my mind that I love this pink furred idiot. It made me happy that he wanted me to be his mate for life. I wanted him to be my mate for life too. "Yes, I will gladly become your mate" I smiled brightly. He was so happy with my answer that he tackled me onto my back with his tail wagging excitedly. I giggled as he licked my face over and over. As he pulled his face away, I gave him a lick on the cheek.
"I love you, my Alpha" I said sweetly with a smile. He nuzzled my head affectionately and then pulled back. "I love you, my Rogue" he replied and then his smile grew bigger. "Correction, Mrs Alpha" he added and my smile grew.
