"She's in here?"
"That's what he said in the text!"
Hours after Niall had left, Mia had fallen asleep curled up against the beam. The voices from outside the barn pulling her from it. Sitting up more, she turned her attention to the barn doors as whoever on the outside seemed to be struggling to open it, causing the wood to groan in protest.
"Let me try before you break it." The other voice jumped in.
The groaning wood fail quietly after before they were pulled open allowing the setting sun from outside to shin in and over Mia, which caused her to turn her head away and close her eyes due to the sudden brightness.
"I swear they have never used this place. Look! The old piece of junk is still-"
The voice stopped, causing Mia to peak her eyes open. Standing just in front of her were two guys, one's whose mouth was slightly opened as he looked towards her with raised eyebrows. He looked close to her age, his dark brown hair slightly longer and untamed around his head. Sharp wood-colored eyes glanced at her. Standing just in front of him was another man, his attention on her as well, lips pinched together. He however was different, skin tanned, as if the sun had kissed it. His hair black, letting his hazel eyes stand out and nicely kept from his face.
"He wasn't joking." The brown-haired one spoke, getting a role of the eyes from the other before he took careful steps towards her.
"Hey there." He spoke softly, watching as Mia scrambled to move away suddenly, the chain and cuffs stopping her.
"Easy, we aren't going to hurt you. Niall sent us to watch over you." He said, lowering himself down to where his whole weight was being placed on the heels of his shoes. The movement caused his shirt to adjust, lifting up to expose a gun holster.
Heart pounding, Mia's eyes went between the two in panic. If they wanted to anything, she had no way of stopping them and that alone had anxiety and fear filling her blood.
"My name is Milo, and that's Layton. We aren't going to do anything. We're only here to get you inside, let you clean up, a good meal in, and somewhere much more comfortable. That sound good?" The guy who introduced himself as Milo said, letting a small smile across his face, almost as if he hoped it would help Mia feel comfortable.
Any place away from the barn sounded better. But the sight of the gun and two strangers in front of her was making her wonder if the barn would be safer. Her eyes snapped towards Milo as he reached into his pants side pocket and pulled out a key. Seeing as Mia wasn't answering, he decided they just needed to get her inside. Regrading her like a frightened animal, he kept his movement slow, keeping his hazel orbs on her as he started to unlock the chain and cuffs.
Chains hitting the dirt below her, Mia was quick to pull her wrists close to her chest. Rubbing gentle fingers over her raw skin, she glanced up through her eyelashes towards Milo who had returned to stand up, a hand extended down towards her.
"Come on. I think some good sleep and food will help you relax."
She didn't know how to react. Milo was almost treating her as if she wasn't a hostage or kidnapped. Deciding that maybe going with them wouldn't be as bad, she extended her hand out and let him take it. Helping her to her feet before guiding her towards the house.
