Hey all!
Sorry, it's been a good amount of time since an update. I've been insanely busy this summer with two jobs and school and am starting a new busy semester next week. I will continue to write this story, however, updates probably won't be as often as I want because I am a college student with a job(s). Thank you though for sticking around and giving this story some hearts! It really means the world to me! This chapter isn't honestly my best work but it's a good build of what is to come. Please comment with your thoughts and tell me what you enjoyed/think is happening!
Enjoy!
When Detective Morgen arrived at the scene, the evidence team was already spread throughout the area, looking for any possible evidence that could be collected. The main focus where everyone was gathered was around the burned car. Firefighters walked around it, having cleared the fire, leaving nothing but a burned path of what was a vehicle.
"Officer Morgen, good to see you made it."
Turning towards the voice, a female officer was standing in front of him. Her hair was pulled back into a bun with a dress shirt and pants fitting to her body.
"My name is Jasmine Jenkins, Captain King assigned me to help you." She greeted, offering her hand out with a smile.
Morgen only nodded his head while shaking her hand. He had just arrived at the scene minutes ago, seeing their evidence teams already spread out throughout the area.
"What of the car?" He asked, moving past Jasmine to get a better look at the vehicle and he could not hold back the scowl at the sight of it. Whatever the vehicle looked like before no longer existed, as a charred car rested in front of him.
"I spoke with the fire marshal and anything that was inside is destroyed, the VIN number as well. Either this car had been burning for some time before it was called in or whoever lit it on fire knew what they were doing." Jasmine spoke, moving to stand beside Detective Morgen.
Every single bit of evidence that the vehicle could have held was gone, leaving them miles behind the robbers now.
"Detective Morgan!" Both Jasmine and Morgen turned their heads to the voice, seeing one of their evidence team members running towards them with a bag in hand.
Coming to stop in front of them, he thrust the evidence bag in front of Detective Morgan who took it. "We found this bullet in one of the nearby trees, looks to be recently fired." Twisting the bag in his hands to get a closer look at the bullet, Morgan's lips pulled into a smirk before handing the bag back.
"Get the bullet running for anything, type of gun and any fingerprints." With a sharp nod back, the team member took off towards the vehicle to do so, just as Officer Morgan's cell started to ring.
Glancing at the number, he quickly accepted it.
"Found anything?" He asked, making brief eye contact with Jasmine who was glancing at him as well.
"And that logo was in the duffel bag?"
"On it, we'll go pay him a visit and see if there is any connection. Thank you."
Ending the call, he moved his eyes towards Jasmine who had stayed near him.
"What was that about?" She asked, watching as he sent a text before pocketing his phone away.
"The duffel bag that was dropped during the robbery, the Nightclub Ghostbar's logo was found inside. Its owner, John Visconzi is known for his money laundering and other past acts that have had police evolved. If the robbers had one of his bags, that means we have a base of where they may be going to. I'm going to go have a little talk with him and see what I can get." He spoke out, starting to make his way towards his car.
