*Lauren's POV*

I was going in and out of consciousness. I was confused as to what had happened. There were nurses and doctors surrounding me. The one had put an oxygen breathing mask around my face, to help with my breathing. I was fading in and out of consciousness. I could hear the IV bag, dripping water, and that's when I knew.

*Josh's POV*

I had just gotten a call from Lauren's best friend, Kelly, saying she wanted to meet me. I agreed, feeling a bit concerned, but didn't think much about it.

I got in my car and drove to a little diner down the street from my apartment. When I walked in the doors, Kelly was sitting at a little table in the back corner.

"Hey Kelly."

"Hey Josh, I'm glad you could come on such short notice." She said, smiling.

I took a seat and ordered a cup of tea, and Kelly ordered a water.

"So, why did you invite me to lunch?" I asked.

"I have something to show you." She said.

"Well, what is it?" I asked.

"It's a surprise." She said.

She wasn't acting normal, but I didn't think about it much at the time.

"So, I heard that you took Lauren on an all day date the other day?" She asked.

"Yeah. It was fun. But she's not ready for a boyfriend yet. I mean, I'm totally okay with it, I just like her a lot. And, I know what she's going through, so I'm trying to keep my distance." I explained.

"I know. She called me about it. She felt really bad, and didn't want it to seem like she was pushing you away. She really wants to date you, just not right now. The timing was bad. " She told me.

"Yeah, I know. I just feel like I pushed her. And I'm really sorry, I just don't know if I should talk to her. I don't want to bother her anymore." I said.

I really missed Lauren, and I haven't heard from her all day. I mean, I'd only heard from her just yesterday, I just feel really bad about what I'd done.

"Well she really cares about you." Kelly said.

Before I could answer, the waitress came over with our drinks and we ordered our food.

"So how are you and Shane going?" I asked.

I had forgotten they were dating, and I haven't heard from him in awhile.

"Oh I dumped his cheating ass."

"Sorry I asked." I said, soon regretting asking.

"It's fine. You deserve to know what a douche-bag he is." She said.

A few moment later, the waitress came over with our food.

"Thank you." I told her.

"Enjoy." She said, smiling as she walked away.

Kelly smiled back at her and we ate our lunch. After we finished eating, we got in Kelly's car and drove to where she was taking me.

"So, will Lauren be here?" I asked.

"Yes. You can tell her anything you want. She's all ears." Kelly replied as she drove down 89th street.

We drove and parked in front of a strip mall. It had a shoe store, a burger joint, an ice cream parlor and a barber shop.

"I take it we're going to the ice cream parlor." I said.

"No, we're going across the street." She said as she paid the parking meter.
