Name: Dead to you

Author: Ecaille13

Genre: Horror/ mystery/ romance

Status: completed

Read It: If you like a good zombie book with potential and if you just adore boy love stories.

PG Rating: Mature content, read at your own risk.

Star Ratings: ★★★★

Book Description: It was a summer of love at little Brook, but not for Jack. His boyfriend Michael had just disappeared at the stroke of midnight.

However, any attempt to find Michael was cut short. Indeed, a zombie plague had just struck their town. Now Jack and his friends have to find a way out of this hell on earth.

This is a story where noble ghouls and malicious angels tread. A land of dreams and nightmares that come true. A fairy tale during the apocalypse.

REVIEW: I love, love this book. It gripped my attention from the prologue. It has the potential of winning a watty.

Now, to the main review;

TITLE: I really like the title, it doesn't expose way too much but still compliments the theme of the book.

SUMMARY: The summary was really good as well. It wasn't too wordy and it gave enough information to pull the readers attention and it as well didn't leak the entire plot which I also like.

COVER: The cover was actually pretty good. Though it doesn't have very bright colors that immediately draw your attention it still does a good job at pulling attention with it's minimalist design but the color are pretty dull which could make it easy to miss.

PROLOGUE: I love the prologue. It has the ability to engage the reader with what's going on in the story and I liked the way suspense was used here. It had me wanting to get into the book already.

GRAMMAR: So about the grammar, the author did a really good job here and I liked that the author didn't switch tenses mid way through the book. The author stayed true to the tense they started with.

CHARACTERS: The characters were properly developed like they weren't just made up people. They had relatable human characteristics that makes them come off real.

CONFLICT: The conflict was evident from the beginning of the book. Let's take the prologue for example; I felt the internal conflict (fear) of the characters as they reacted to the external conflict (being attacked by a zombie) and how they blindly made decision which is humanly relatable.

IMAGINATION: A lot of imagination was put into this book and it was very evident, every chapter will show that the author took their time thinking up the content of the book.

BACKSTORY: I loved the use of backstory. It was inspired in the right way and not forced in like I've seen in some books. It wasn't out of place and it gave the right information for the progress of the book.

TECHNICALITIES: The pacing of the book and the tension was alright, the book didn't move way too fast. The actions of the characters were logical due  to the good character development.

EXPRESSION: There was proper use of words and they were used in the right way and complimented what they were attributed to. The book had really good description as well.

FINALLY: This book is actually really good that I would give it a 90 out of a 100
