" Hit the gas! "

We were in full speed going to Heather's house.

" Heather are you there?! " I shouted.

No answer.

" Guys get some weapon and find Heather. "

Amber looked at me and stared blankly. I bet she's thinking where we could get weapons in this kind of situation.

I groan. I never wanted to be in this kind of situation. I used my skills and push down Heather's door. Inside, we find blood trails on the stairs and leading to the kitchen.

I turn back to my friends, "Guys stay here. I'm going to look for Heather. She might be anywhere. Keep a lookout here. And Anthony, you are going with me." I made my tone serious so that no one can argue with me.

Slowly and quietly, Anthony and I enter the house and there i made a mistake i will regret foever. The wooden floor creaked and zombies appeared out of nowhere.

" Shit," I breathed. I clench my knuckles and i lung towards the nearest zombie and i punch it. It falls on the floor and i step on its fucking head. I see Anthony following my lead and hitting every zombie that comes in his way. We start doing badass skills at all zombies but every time we kill one, more comes.

" Stairs, Anthony. Now!" I panted. We ran up the wooden staircase. We go into some random room and we lock the door.

" Shit. Eder, you have to look at this," i hear Anthony say. I turn and i see Heather's body on the bed. Beside her is a gun. I grab it while Anthony tries to shake Heather awake. I strap the gun to my shoulder.

I look back and i help Anthony wake Heather. "Heather, wake up!" I shout. Heather's eyes went open and she leaped from the bed, scared.

"Eder, there were so many and..." Heather began. Anthony went towards her and Heather cried in his shirt.

"Shhh..." Anthony quieted her. When Anthony started calming Heather, i heard some hard thumps downstairs. I tilted my head on the corridor and saw Astrid limping towards Heather's room.

I ran to her quickly and carried her on my arms. Anthony, together with Heather, started running out of the room. While carrying Astrid down, I saw something on her leg. It's a dark spot on her lower leg.

"What happened? Did something happen? Were you bitten?" I was asking her so much questions but she wasn't answering. Instead, her eyes started closing and her head gracefully fell over my arm.

---

"Tell me nothing happened to you" amber interrogated heather. Heather was just quiet on the end of the car. "Speak!" Amber yelled. I guess she's getting frustrated with all of this crap.

"I... There were zombies outside my house. I thought they were hobos... I guess my eyesight isn't that loyal-"

"I dont give a shit about what happened! Tell me if a zombie bit you!" Amber pushed Heather's side.

"Ame's dont" Anthony warned with a calming tone.

"Fine. If you dont want to tell us, then leave the car. Its your fault we got ambushed by those freaks." Amber went out of the car and started kicking stones. We parked near a swamp lake after that incident on heather's house.

"Its not my fault. Seriously, i didnt get infected i wouldnt let anyone do that on me." Heather tried telling them.

But I know the truth.

She was bit by a zombie. I saw that on her arm. Her body is covered with a coat so its not obvious. But I know the truth. I know she doesnt want to leave and let herself die in the woods with wandering stench zombies. She wants to go with us. She wants to survive.

"I'll talk to her." I insisted.

They all nodded. I led Heather out of the car and we both crouched. I saw Amber entering the car and slamming the door.

"Now, tell me." I started.

"I wasnt infected. See it for yourself" she tried to defend herself but I can see in her eyes that she is infected. Her once brownish eye is not gray with a shade of red. It means she's almost there of being a zombie.

I grabbed her coat and took it off. She looked at me, shocked at what I am doing. I took off the sleeves of her shirt and showed her the spot where the zombie bit her. Its bleeding so fast and I can see blood spurting out.

"What do you call that?" I told her.

"Please, i dont want to die" she was know kneeling in front of me. Begging for her life.

I dont know if I can allow her to join us. Its not safe to be honest. She'll die and she'll kill more people. I wont let her do that. Even if she's my friend.

I looked at the ground. The grass turns to brown as the time flies. No one watering it. If we try our best to look for a cure for Heather, maybe... Just maybe... That brown color on that grass will turn to green and she'll be alive again.

All we need is determination.

And I'm going to show them that.
