Since we have stuff to do on Christmas, the group decided that we would have a holiday the first actual day of winter break. Meaning, I have to go to a holiday party today. It'll be Karl, Nick, Darryl, Clay, Zak, all their parents, and all their siblings. It'll be a trainwreck is what it will be.
It was being hosted at Clay's house since he had the biggest house. My family was the first people to get there and sadly Luce came along with us. Nick and his parent were next, then Darryl and Zak came together with their parents. Finally Karl arrived with his mom and his half-sister. Everyone already seemed to hate Luce though, even everyone's parents. I guess he just gves off an "I'm a jerk" vibe.
This holiday party will probably be the last time I see everyone together though because my mum decided that we are moving to Savannah, Georgia. Her and the horrid stepfather of mine have already bought a house. I haven't told anyone about me actually moving to Georgia yet.
"Hey, George, Nick wanted me to tell you that we're all going up to Clay's room to hang out away from the adults. Wanna come up?" I turn around to see Darryl smiling at me, waiting for my answer. I smiled back and nodded, following Darryl up to Clay's room. When we get upstairs all the kids except from Darryl and I were in Clay's room, just chillin'.
"Hey, guys! Excited for winter break?" Zak says excitedly to the two of us entering the room.
"Hell ye-" I was trying to say before I got cut off by Darryl shouting 'language' at me. The group started laughing and we joined them in sitting in various places in the room.
After about two hours of intense board game and video game playing we are all called downstairs to open presents. Being the close-knit group that we are, even parents got us gifts due to their liking for their child's friends. Nick's mother was the most gracious with the gift giving.
Everyone opened their present from each other, some more sentimental objects than others. Poor Karl got socks from most of the parents due to him not being in the group for very long and people not knowing what to get.
Traditionally, the parents give one gift to their kid during the holiday party. My mum made a bad mistake giving me this.
"Here, George. This is the thing that Luce and I want you to have." My mum states as she hands me a small wrapped box. I rip the paper to find a small black box, also like a necklace or earring box from jewerly stores. I opened the box to see a shiny blue key.
"It's the key to our new house. I figured you would probably need it once we move there." She points out, silence following.
"Wait, you're actually moving?" Clay asks, sounding a bit irritated and depressed all at once.
"Oh, did he not tell you bunch? We're moving to Georgia." My mum states, looking over at me confused. I told her that I would tell them all but I didn't have the guts to do it.
"When are you moving?" Drista questioned, narrowing her eyes at my mum. Drista most definitely didn't enjoy my company but she knew I made Clay happy and that was enough for her to want me to stay.
"Over this break actually. We were planning to be in the new house before New Years Eve."
