I sit in the empty compartment, staring out the window of the train. My family and I have just recently moved to England from America, so I don't know anyone yet.
My parents are both wizards, making me a pure-blood. So I've heard, Hogwarts lets a lot more mixed blood wizards into their school than Ilvermorny does. I had a few half-blood friends back in America and they were fine, so I don't really see what the big deal is with the whole 'blood superiority'.
As we slowly pull up to the school grounds, I take my first look at the magnificent castle. 'Holy shit' i whispered to myself. It was beautiful. Ilvermorny will always be more impressive, but I didn't expect Hogwarts to look like this.
I head out of the train and up to the school. I'm quite sure where to go, and since I haven't talked to anyone yet, I'm even more lost. Luckily, everyone seems to be heading in the same direction, so I follow the crowd.
I step into a very large room that consists of four long tables and a table that was a bit smaller at the end of the room. I'm sure where to sit, noticing that each table was for each different house.
I was yet to be sorted into my house, so I decide to stand with the small group of first years that stood in front of an old worn out hat.
'This school is a bit strange' I mumble under my breath. A first year boy looks up at me with a confused expression. I ignore him and turn my attention to the headmaster who's been giving some speech that I probably should've been paying attention to.
'Now, before we get started, we need to sort the first years into their houses.' His voice boomed through the room. 'There are four houses. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.' He paused. 'The sorting hat will be placed on your head and will call out the house you are to be sorted in.' That thing has to go on my head? What a joke.
It wasn't a joke however, the hat really did sort each kid into their houses. One by one they were all sorted, until it was only me left.
'Ah and last but not least, the American.' The weird man with the white beard said. 'Y/N Y/L/N.' He said, looking up.
I gulp and walk up to the chair, my face flushes red as i turn and face the crowd full of unfamiliar faces. I sit down, palms sweaty for some reason. Why am I nervous? I feel the hat being placed on my head and get a bit startled when it starts talking.
'Ah an American.. I see.. I see.. hmm very strong minded and cunning... yes.. it's got to be... SLYTHERIN!' He yells, causing the table on the end to applaud.
That must be where i'm supposed to go. As I sit down at the end of the table, I look at my fellow housemates. There were a lot of ugly girls which made me smile a bit, knowing i won't envy very many of them. I've had issues with girls thinking they were better than me. On the contrary, there's quite a few cute boys in Slytherin.
'Hey. y/n, right?' I hear someone say.
I look up to see a very attractive boy right across from me. He has dark skin and a very chiseled face.
'Yes.' I say, trying not to show any interest. This is my chance to set my reputation, and I don't want anyone thinking I'm a softy.
'What year are you?' He asks. I already get the vibe that he's full of himself. Considering no one's talked to me today, maybe everyone here is conceded.
'Fourth.' I make eye contact with him.
'Us too.' He points to the boy sitting next to him. I look over and see another attractive boy. This one however, looks very different than the first one. He has platinum blonde hair and pale skin, and magnificent grey eyes. He studies me hard and I have know idea what he could be thinking.
'Are you pure-blood?' I look to the person sitting next to me and see the ugly dark haired girl who asked the question.
'Yes.' I say, looking at them as smiles creep onto all their faces. 'Are you guys?' they scoff as if the answer is obvious.
'Obviously. Do you really think we'd be in Slytherin if we weren't?' the blonde boy seems very offended by me.
'Is Slytherin the pure-blood house or something?' I really hope this school doesn't discriminate by blood status. That's so stupid.
We all whipped our heads around, none of us knowing what's going on, considering we weren't listening to the speech.
The doors open and a group of tall chiseled men walk in with stone cold faces. I began to get a bit scared, but became confused instead.
Next, a group of girls all wearing the same ugly blue uniform waltz in, causing many boys to
sigh.Still very confused, I decide to turn my attention to the blonde boy who apparently had the same idea. We lock eyes and i look at him with a confused face. He just ignores me and looks away. Rude
