Episode Seven, Part 4:
Life SupportAnd we are homeward bound, and I...
I want this more than life.Sol hurried into the next cell that lined the hallway, hurrying to get inside before any guards could catch her. She shut the door behind and moved out of sight of the window on top, pressing herself flat against the wall as she came to terms with who was in the cell with her.
"Sovereign Riverly?"
Sol looked up after catching her breath, relieved which each cell she entered that she discovered majority of her people were fine.
"What's going on?"
"Here, take one of these," Sol breathed out, slinging around a bag which was draped over her shoulder. She opened it to reveal a stash of weapons she had managed to retrieve on her way over, still trying to wipe all the blood off of her hands from the guard she'd had to kill to obtain it.
"What are these for? Is there gonna be a riot?"
Sol nodded at the girls' questions, trying to figure out much to tell them. "Your door is unlocked. Sometime in the next few minutes, there's gonna be a signal from me to attack; guards should be in the hallway and you guys, along with everyone else I've already seen, need to work on taking them down. As soon as you can, you need to follow to Nova and Bianca down to the basement of the ship. They should know where they're going"
One of the girls nodded, but the other still seemed to have doubts. "Are you going to be there? What about Sovereign Dreea and Sovereign Wynn?"
"No," Sol said regretfully. "Wynn needs help and Dreea is..."
"She's where?"
"Dreea's with Sovereign Kodiak..."
"But he's..."
She shook her head, knowing what they were processing, and hoping she hadn't distracted them too far from the approaching riot. "He's been here, on the ship with Neptunum, working to get us out. I know it's a lot to take in, but you need to focus on the attack on the guards and then getting yourselves and the rest of our people down into the ship's basement. Can you do that?"
They both nodded frantically, sharing overwhelmed expressions with each other, trying to wrap their minds around everything that was happening.
"Okay, good," Sol said. "I have to go now. Remember to listen out for the signal."
She didn't spare any more time to listen to any questions they still had and instead had to hurry back into the hall and into the next cell there was.
"River?" She heard a familiar voice exclaim, the person who it belonged to slowly pushing themselves up from their bed to walk over to her.
"Joren!" Sol exhaled, momentarily abandoning all her duties and racing to embrace the older man, slinging her arms around his neck and holding him tight.
"It's been a long since months. I've missed you real bad, kiddo."
"I missed you, too."
"I'm so glad you're okay," he said, pulling away to look at her; to try and prove to himself that she was fine. "How did you get in here? Where are the others?"
"Long story," she breathed out, "starting with the fact that Kodiak's alive and he's here, on the ship."
"He's-"
"Alive, yeah," Sol couldn't help but smile each time she confessed the truth again, but as much as she wanted to stand there with Joren and talk about her friend, she didn't have the time. "I'll explain later, but right now, Wynn's in trouble and I have to get to him before it's too late."
