In the 24 hours that I granted Tom, there were many times where he would act like he was going to ask me out. He payed a mariachi band on the street to play my favorite song while he started ranting about our time together. Then he was just like, 'anyways I'm feeling a little tired let's go back to your place'. At my place there was a path of rose petals leading me to a note that said my name. And that's all that was on it. He acted oblivious. He took me out to a dinner but nothing happened there either.
It was starting to feel like the boy who cried wolf until we were walking around at sunset. Our pinkies were linked as we walked together, just talking.
"How has your day been, love?"
"Well, pretty good after I set this 24 hour rule. Except that each time something happens I get my hopes up and now I'm starting to think you're never going to ask me out," I admit.
Tom chuckles, "Not my intent."
"But, I do enjoy all of the sweet gestures and romance. I enjoy anything with you," I say.
"I wanted to show you a glimpse of what it will be like. Kind of had to cram it in. But if you're my girlfriend, I want you to feel special every single day. I want rose petals, nice meals, and mariachi bands to be normal. If that sounds okay to you, can you please put me out of my misery and be my girlfriend?"
"I hate you," I say with a smile on my face. "Yes, I'll be your girlfriend."
Tom picks me up and spins me around in a hug. When he puts me down I pull him in for a kiss. My insides feel all mushy and warm. How did I manage to get Spider-Man to be my boyfriend?
"I'm really glad you said yes. Because I had Kelsey here taking pictures during that, y'know for memories. But imagine how bad it would be if you said no and then I just had pictures of me getting rejected?" Tom mentions. I follow his finger and see Kelsey hiding in a hat and shades. Disbelief hits my face. Since when did they become little masterminds?
That doesn't matter. All that matters is that Tom is mine and I am his, and we are happy.
