CHAPTER 20

Loren’s POV (Two weeks and five days since she left Konoha)

Stars filled the dark sky, giving light to the dark world, giving guidance to those who are travelling in the wild. They shone like a diamond and they gracefully dance as they twinkled, giving entertainment to my boring yet peaceful night.

PEACE. That’s right. That is the word that I need to savour until my life will be filled with bloodbath, and I will make sure that that blood will come from my enemies.

Ever since the day that I left our place, peace is very hard to come by my life. Every single day, darkness is eating away my sanity and the only thing holding me from reality is revenge, revenge to kill the man responsible for everything of my suffering. Also, during that part of my life, the only peace that I get is with my friends’ company, Kusa, Rin, Tora, and their group. Ever since I stayed at Konoha, I found peace in my mornings, peace in my meals, and peace in my every single day. Unfortunately, when the time comes I will all leave this.

But as for now I will also savour this little peace of mine, me stargazing in the middle of the forest beyond the boundary of Sunagakure, while seated in front of a good camp fire.

I threw a piece of wood in the small fire in front of me and secured my robe that protects my whole body in the coldness of the night. A sigh of contentment for the satisfying warmth it produces escaped from my pale lips.

‘Loren’ Kusa suddenly talk, almost making me jump.

“Kusa? Wow, long time no talk” I chirped dryly with hooded eyes.

‘Yes’

“. . . Sooo, what’s wrong?” I asked as I eyed the fire and hear its crackling sound of woods burning.

‘Nothing, I was just bored’

I arched my right eyebrow at her nonsensical remark.

“You don’t say?”

Silence . . .

I sighed as I am getting impatient. Clearly she has something important to say.

“We both know that you don’t start talking to me if you’re just bored Kusa, because you only start talking to me if you have something important to say. Now, spill it” I stressed as I jerked my head upward, like I’m talking in front of her.

After a moment of silence passed by, Kusa finally gave up with a sigh.

‘. . . I just wanted you to know that you are nearing to your right age. Your birthday is nearing and only two more years until you will receive all your rights’ She informed.

I blinked. I tightened my jaw, my grip in the robe, curled even more, and glared daggers on the ground near the fire.

‘I know Kusa. I’ll soon be 18, so that also means that that wretch man will start in making his move to get me, to get my powers’ I mentally answered, losing the mood to even open my mouth in talking.

‘You have to be extra careful when that happens’ she gently warned.

‘I will’ I replied. ‘And that also means that I will leave Konoha’

‘You do not necessarily need to leave Konoha my child, in fact-‘

It is for the best Kusa!” I loudly cut off, becoming even more infuriated. “It’s for their safety. They don’t have anything to do with my problem so they don’t have to be caught in the middle of it. And this time you know that I’m correct, right?”
