"Come on! we gotta move!
There were 2 girls left on the helicopter. Everybody else has finally gotten away. The Girls grabbed onto one another as they ran towards the metal doors. They didn't know what lay behind them. Maybe if they had, they wouldn't off made the mistake of entering. Painful screeches sounded from behind them as gunshots were being fired in the direction. The girls had just made it inside of the large building when the massive doors began to shut.
"Where the hell are we?" Sonya asked looking to Harriet.
"I have no idea" The girl answered.
"You okay?" Amber asked looking to her bestfriend.
"Ye-yeah Im good, you?" Charlotte said in reply. They were left alone in a room where there was machinery and mats placed everywhere. Everybody spread out having their own little conversations. Rachel and Aris sat off to the side on their own in a quiet conversation while Charlotte and her group of friends scattered around. Harriet and Molly both sat together on a piece of machinery, Harriet appeared to be reassuring Molly who was waiting nervously. Then there Amber and Keira, being Amber and Keira as they wandered around inspecting everything. Trying to get out the door. Which happened to be locked. No surprise there. While Mackenzie, Sonya and Charlotte sat on a mat leaning against the wall. Each of them looking extremely tired and in need of a good nights sleep. Mackenzie sat biting her nails in the corner while Sonya and Charlotte talked about what was happening.
"Well this is sh*t" Keira concluded as her and Amber made their way towards the group.
"Keira don't say that, we're gonna be fine" Harriet said noticing Molly starting to look down.
"Yeah right, as if. Look I'm sorry but I just spent 2 and a half years in a stupid maze which we finally got out of only to wind up here in the hellhole. I think we have the right to be negative Harriet so quit the act we all know your just as pissed" Amber remarked.
"No look I get you guys are annoyed and want to know what's going on but there's no need to be shouting about how you feel which is clearly upsetting people so please give it a rest both of you. I'm sure we'll have answers soon" Harriet told them.
The 2 girls exchanged a glance before laughing. "This isn't the maze Harriet, you're not the boss anymore" Keira told her.
"Can you all just shut up!" Mackenzie shouted, completely unlike her. Everybody stopped and looked to her.
"Jeez chill" Amber said taking a seat beside Sonya. While Keira took a seat beside Charlotte.
"I need sleep" Keira moaned through a yawn.
"Good plan" Charlotte said as she relaxed her head on Mackenzies legs. Soon enough mostly everybody had drifted off. But then Charlotte awoke. She looked around to see what had waken her but everyone was asleep...except Aris. He had been the only boy in their Maze and had been the last one to enter. She stood up and gently moved Keira's head which had been resting on her arm. Then she made her way over to the boy and took a seat beside him on a stool. Bringing her knees up to her chest she let out a small yawn before looking back to the boy.
"How are you holdin' up?" She asked him.
The quiet boy looked up from the floor before answering, "A bit confused considering we've been locked in here for like an hour and a half" Just then the door opened loudly as if on queue waking all the girls up from their slumbers.
"Welcome, to life outside the maze" He said sounding dramatic. Charlotte merely rolled her eyes. She just wanted to know where she was. She and her friends all wondered. "My name is Jansen, Here you are safe from WCKD and you will be put at no harm whatsoever. You're free now." All the girls begun to stand up and even Charlotte and Aris joined the group.
"Excuse me?" Charlotte spun around to see Molly who had a large smile on her face, finally somebody had come . "Does this mean we'll get back to our families and homes?" She said with hopefulness in her soft voice.
"I'm sorry but most likely all your homes are destroyed and your families, well dead."
"Damn insensitive much?" Charlotte whispered to Keira and Amber who stood either side of her.
"Let's get yous showered" He said with a clap of his hands. Charlotte began to slow down her pace as they walked through the halls.
"Hey Aris, is it just me or does this whole thing seem a bit suspicious?" Charlotte asked in a hushed voice. Aria looked around him at all the smiling girls who seemed excited.
"In my opinion this whole thing seems to good to be true" Replied back Aris. The group continued to walk down the hallway till they reached 2 separate rooms, girls and boys.
"I'll see you later" She told the boy as she went into the girls shower room.
"Well guys, WE'RE FREE!" Keira screamed as she ran into one of the cubicles. Almost everyone laughed at her enthusiasm. They'd just spent 3 years in a maze, of course they were happy about hot water. Everybody went into their cubicles and showered. Amber and Keira both shouting to everybody how good it was while everybody else laughed. They were the energetic ones of the group. As well as 2 of charlottes closest friends, They were a group, a team. Charlotte, Amber, Keira, Sonya,Molly, Harriet and Mackenzie. Harriet and Sonya had always been the responsible ones who gave good advice, Molly was an optimist who tried to see the best, Amber and Keira were impulsive and loud, Mackenzie tended to be pretty quiet but was kind to everybody. And then there was Charlotte it was hard to describe her. In ways she was like all of them but then she was completely different. Sure there were other girls in their maze but those 7 were always closest. Harriet was one of the first sent up into the maze along with Charlotte and Sonya who had been just before her, Amber and Molly who came just after, Keira came about a year before they had escaped. Mackenzie had been the most recent of them. But that's enough about the past. This story isn't about the maze.
