i'm happy to announce that I've started writing the second book! sorry it's taken so long lmao i've had a lot of stuff going on recently so i've had less time and less motivation. as you can see, this is the new cover and yeah since i've introduced keira (played by florence pugh) and amber (by danna paola) i decided that for some of my new book i would include their perspectives for some parts, though charlotte (madelyn cline) will be the main focus ofc and we can't forget another one of my fave actors (chris wood) who's still gonna play miles in the sequel, ill release the first chapter in a day or two i just gotta make a couple changes and stuff before hand so yeh uhm if you haven't given up on this book yet thanks i guess lmao
— — —"Where... the hell...are they?" She asked slowly, wincing in pain trying to straighten herself up, the chains around her wrists keeping her restricted.
"They are safe, I can assure you" The lady dressed in white had told her. It was the same answer every time. For the past 2 months, or was it 3? She couldn't tell. It was the same thing everyday, wake up with an electric shock, dragged down the hallway by guards, chained up at the wrists so that her arms were spread out as far as they could reach to the point that they ached, the chains were much too tight. Her wrists were covered in scars from the metal slicing through her skin, it had been painful at the start, she would grit her teeth so hard to resist the pain that they had to give her a mouth guard to stop her from snapping her teeth but the girl had grown to like the pain, as strange as it sounfed, it reminded her that there was still a small shred of humanity left inside of her. Then the questions would come, but the girl knew nothing of what they were asking her. Nothing. All she knew was that she was numb. Every question she couldn't answer would mean another shock through her system and extra time in the machine. She dreaded that thing. A large, horizontal cylinder that she would lay down inside, it was too bright to even keep her eyes open inside of it. And then they would start the visions, sending the girl to the places she feared most. Her memories.
And once they were one with that, she would be sent to her room and be given a small ration of food and water, just enough to keep her alive. When they had first arrived she wondered had what had happened to her friends. Had they gotten away? Had they been taken? Would they save her and the other kids that had been taken? Probably not. Now, the girl had lost any sense of emotion left in her body. Her whole world had come crashing down once again, just as it had steadied.
But the worst part of it all wasn't that she was tortured, or isolated, the worst part was that over the time she had been locked up on her own for so long she had grown to fear herself. She feared what she would do, how she would act, what she would say. She didn't know what she should do with herself so she became a new person. They wanted answers that she didn't have, but she didn't know why they needed them from her.
Maybe, just maybe, her friends could save them all from WCKD. Yet deep down, Charlotte knew they could never save her from herself.
