"Get back! Everyone stand back!" Thomas shouted aggressively as people scurried further from him, all weapons aimed straight at him.
Janson rushed towards Thomas, coming to an abrupt stop one or two metres away as he raised his arms, "Hold your fire!" He informed his soldiers loudly.
Charlotte stood alongside Amber, Harriet and Keira. Newt sent a worried glance in Charlottes direction but soon returned his gaze to his bestfriend.
Shouts between Janson and Thomas continued, the man telling the soldiers to stand down while Thomas continued telling them to get back.
"Stand back. Let 'em go!"
"Thomas" Janson began.
"Let them all go!" Thomas yelled back as he gestured his arm towards the berg that people had been loaded into. People including Sonya and Aris.
"You know I can't do that!" Ava protested as she made her way to Jansen's side.
Amber tugged lightly at Charlottes sleeve as she glanced to her friend. "Is he going to.."
"Thomas may be stupid, but he'll do whatever it takes to save his friends" Charlotte assured in a whisper
"Thomas please stop" Teresa begged as she stepped to Ava's side. "I made a deal with them. They promised we'd be safe. All of us"
And I'm supposed to trust you now?" Thomas shot back.
"It's true, it was her only condition" Ava told him, backing up Teresa.
"Shut up!" Thomas warned.
Charlotte stared at the scene in front of her, her lips parted in utter shock. Teresa may have done what she thought was right, maybe finding a cure was the right thing, but that didn't mean her actions were right. The blond gritted her teeth together at the sight of her. She hasn't known Teresa well or for a very long amount of time but her heart ached for those who had. Knowing that it must be hard for them to accept the fact that they had been betrayed by someone whom they had trusted.
"Everything can go back to the way it was" Ava said as she stepped toward. "Thomas...do you really want all of them to die?"
After looking around her friends, new and old, Charlottes mind raced with thoughts as Thomas met her eyes. She could see the pained expression on his face as he debated his options.
After a short pause, Janson spoke up, "Listen to her Thomas. Think about what you're doing"
Charlotte was the first to step forward as she made her way to Thomas' side. The boy was shaking as he breathed heavily. "I'd rather die with my friends than be one of your lab-rats" Charlotte said bitterly, her eyes fixed on Ava Paige. Minho was next at their side, closely followed by Newt and Frypan. Miles released a small sigh before joining them.
