PAST TIME

Love was something Yushiro hasn't felt in a long time. He's loved someone or something, or longed for them. Tamayo was proof of that, and so was (Y/N). He's too stubborn to admit any positive feelings for his demon roommate though.

"It's already around lunchtime, (Y/N) should've come back by now," He mumbled to Chachamaru who napped on his leg.

Yushiro reached out to stroke that cat's little head, earning him a big stretch and a soft purr from the feline.

"It's still coming down hard, so I know she didn't get caught into any trouble having to do with the weather," He told the sleepy cat, he could feel the obnoxious pins in needles beginning to consume his leg where Chachamaru laid.

Yushiro picked them up into his arms gently and stood up with a quiet, "Hup," and made his way outside what he dubbed as the 'painting room.' He'd have to admit, it was very quiet without (Y/N) around. She was always making little comments here and there, not to mention everything she seemed to do was loud and attention-catching. Yushiro was constantly paranoid she would end up breaking something, worried she might hurt herself. For a being that's over a century old, she could be pretty damn clumsy sometimes. Who was he to complain? He was always looking for a reason to be around her anyways, not that he would ever admit it.

Yushiro had many talents, but the biggest talent he had was lying to himself. He lied and lied and lied, all to himself. That fuzzy feeling he ever got when he was near (Y/N) he simply blamed as a dizzy spell— despite knowing damn well he couldn't suffer those things anymore.

"Where is she?" He mumbled, a pang of worry lightly invaded his stomach.

He clicked his tongue and set the tired Chachamaru onto the tatami mats below him. He then made his way to the entryway to peek outside, it wasn't as coldly as it was before... His jaw clenched and a hole in his stomach formed.

"I should've gone with her."

Yushiro stepped back into the estate and rushed upstairs and to look out the window, only to see your figure missing from coming back home.

"Where is she?" He said louder, as if seeking a legitimate answer.

He let out a curse, he spent a good ten minutes doing nothing but pacing back in forth in the kitchen back downstairs. Why was he so worried, anyways, Yushiro trusted (Y/N) to not get into trouble, so why was he so worried? He felt stressed out and his heart seemed to ache. What was worse is that Yushiro was lying to himself more than he ever had before.

He was very self aware, he knew himself like the back of his hand. He just lied about it. Any little fluttering feeling or ache he would feel around (Y/N) he doubted, ignored, or blamed something else. Deep down he knew.

Yushiro knew he was in love.

And part of him hated it, he had just lost Tamayo. Their love was more platonic rather than romantic or sexual, but this feeling with (Y/N) was different. He got nervous, but he still longed for your presence. He acted annoyed, but in reality he adored (Y/N)'s little rants and mistakes.

Sure cleaning up a mess was always a pain, but talking to her always seemed like a blessing to him. He loved her voice, her laugh is the best thing that's ever reached his ears.

But even Yushiro didn't know these things about himself, even as self aware as he was he was still a giant liar.

"Of course I don't love her, she lives with me and the both of us are carrying Tamayo's memory. So it's only common sense I worry about her. Love has nothing to do with it," He would tell himself often.

Yushiro was too stubborn to even call (Y/N) his friend, because he wanted to be more than friends. But only he knew that, and he would lie about it until his last breath. He was determined to keep these feelings down, bottled and thrown away.

All he could do was hope that it would fade away, and those lies of his wouldn't be lies anymore.

Those feelings got worse, in only an afternoon. (Y/N) came back wet and worn out, she had fallen asleep right on Yushiro's chest when she walked in.

But Yushiro couldn't feel the chilling dampness of her clothes, just the warmth of each other's bodies. He loved that. All of his worries completely melted away in (Y/N)'s arms, it was the first time that fluffy feeling enveloped him entirely. He didn't care what she'd gone through in order to return home, Yushiro was just happy she was with him.

"Maybe... I do love her."
