*Lukes Point of view*
“Shh be quiet there still might be people around,” I whispered.
The trees in the park behind us where rustling in the wind as cars from the main road were driving off into the near distance. I wasn’t entirely sure where I was going, I didn’t know if the plan I had written in my head was the one I was going to stick to. All I knew for certain was I needed to get out of Glenroy, we needed to get out.
“The next bus out of here leaves in 20 minutes, do we want to wait or walk to the train?” The voice in front of me asked.
“I don’t care we just need to leave. Did you bring what we needed?” The wind was blowing through my hair and I could feel my heart pace increased. I was getting nervous, sweat started to accumulate in my palms and my fingers started to twitch. Before I could think anymore a bag was placed out in front of my feet, everything being removed, “I have clothes, food, toiletries, I took some of mums money and I think that’s all we need” The voice replied. I nodded my head and helped place everything back into the bag, we both stood up and walked to the coffee shop around the corner.
The lights were dim and the lonely girl leaning on the counter looked as if she had served nobody all day. I looked around and took notice of the rustic clock on the wall; it only took a few moments before I realized we only had a short time before the bus came. We wondered up to the counter to order a take away coffee for me and hot chocolate for my friend. With a big smile on her face the girl behind the counter quickly made us our beverages and gave us some free toast for being nice for her. I laughed; normally it was the customers giving her tips for her behaviour not the other way round. We got our food and drinks and walked back to the bus stop, as we sat down on the seat and awaited the bus. The wind picked up around us and sent shivers down my back, I turned my head to take a look at her, the way her body was positioned on the seat relaxed but shaking in the decreasing temperature. I noticed the way her hair fell down her back just resting below her chest, as she licked her lips after taking a sip of her drink the hot steam spilling out of her mouth after the temperatures of the air and the hot chocolate mixed. She chuckled and looked at me, her smile grew and she bit her lip.
“What are you looking at?” the words fell from her mouth in her adorable British accent.
“Nothing Bell, nothing,” I replied, I melted as our eyes met. My heart slowed down as I focused on her, her breath, her eyes, her lips.
“Not to wreck the mood,” she said as she grabbed her bag, “but are we not meant to get on this bus?”
I hadn’t even noticed the bus slowly travelling along the road we were situated on. I nodded my head and helped her up. As we hailed the bus, and sat down I suddenly felt weight on my shoulder. She had fallen asleep, just like that leaning on me for support. My smile grew immensely and my eyes wandered out the window, watching the passing houses that slowly grew into trees. This was going to be a long trip, one I don’t think I was ready for, at least.......at least I have Annabelle.
