Birthday Sickness (Redlyn)

*One Week Ago*

Big Red's POV:

"Hey Ashlyn, what do you want for your birthday next week? I don't know what to get you since your in every club and like everything." I replied to my girlfriend while we were walking out of the robotics meeting we had.

"Surprise me." Ashlyn replied while holding my hand.

"Ok. I promise not to get you flowers again. I'll think of something." I replied to her while kissing her on the cheek.

"I'm sure I'll love any gift that you get me however much it cost. I love you Red." Ashlyn replied kissing my cheek goodbye.

"My dad's car is here to pick me up. I'll see you at reheaersals tomorrow. Bye Ash." I replied while kissing her lightly on the lips since we didn't like PDA in school.

"I'll see you on Monday. Bye Big Red." Ashlyn waved to me as she walked off to her locker.

*One week later on a Friday*

Ashlyn's POV:

Today's my birthday and I have gotten so many gifts and cards from my friends but nothing from my boyfriend, Big Red yet.

It's currently 2nd period chemistry class and I got partnered with Laura Jenkins, just my luck. She was absent from school for a whole week because she had the flu and apparently now its contagious and a bunch of students. including my friend Seb had caught it. I'm not sure how it spread so fast. I've been using as much Purell as I can and trying not to share lab materials with her but its basically impossible when most of the stuff is partner work.

During lunch time, I finally met up with Big Red and a bunch of our drama club friends, except for Seb who was still recovering from the flu. I didn't eat much though, my stumach was hurting and I started feeling really cold. Big Red noticed me shivering and offered me his jacket because I forget mine at home. He kept glancing at me since I wasn't eating my food but didn't say anything. I bet he thought I was mad at him because all of my friends had already given me birthday gifts.

As the day went by, I started getting really cranky and tired. I thought that it was the time of the month for me but when I excused myself to the bathroom during 6th period everything seemed fine.

Luckily, I my last period of the day was mixed grade study-hall, I had this period with my cousin EJ and he always drove me home afterward if it wasn't water-polo season. I started to feel the chills again and wrapped myself in BIg Red's jacket while resting my head on one of the empty desks in the classroom. I prayed that the teacher wasn't paying attention to the students in the back row and took a short nap since I wasn't feeling well.

When the bell rang, I heard all the students exit the classroom loudly but was too tired to wake up so I kept my head down on the desk. I felt miserable. Not only did I have chills but I also had a soar throat and felt warm at the same time.

I really hope that this is like a one time virus and not the flu. I can't afford to miss any of my extra-curricular or mess my GPA up.

"Hey cuz, wake up! Time to go home." I heard E.J say loudly making me lift my head off of the desk and rub my eyes.

"What? Oh yeah. Where's Big Red? I have to say goodbye to him since he has plans with his family this weekend?" I said to him weakly as I got my backpack from under my desk.

"I think I saw him skating home with Ricky earlier. You've been napping for ten minutes even when the bell rang. You okay Ash? You never nap in study hall?" E.J said as he put his arm around my shoulder.
