After going away from the group, Beomgyu and Yeonjun had settled down on the trunk of a fallen tree. Despite its glistening moonlight, the moon hadn't been able to let its light seep through the thick greenery decorating the branches of the high treetops.
Everything was silent. The only sound that resonated was the squeaks of bats trying to locate one another after the green, yellow, and green macaws had finally settled down to sleep throughout the night's dark cloak.
"Alright, we're here now. . . What is it?" Beomgyu let out a sigh and leaned against Yeonjun, feeling slightly comforted when the older put his arm around him to pull the younger even closer to him.
A knot formed inside Yeonjun's throat, making him choke on his words. His hesitance made him question his will to reveal this to Beomgyu. Eclipse's words were still echoing inside his brain, lighting up and feeding a small flame of fear inside him.
If he really revealed everything to Beomgyu. . . Would the younger still see him as his mate, or would they part?
That was the last thing Yeonjun wanted. He wouldn't be able to let go if that happened at all. . . But if he kept quiet. His relationship would still be jeopardized, or even doomed for that matter. And you could blame it on that damn green-and-blue-eyed cat he'd been a fool to trust. Everything had been harder ever since he joined forces with that kind of evil.
Yeonjun took a small gulp. He parted from Beomgyu and finally met his pretty hazel eyes. "There's. . . There's something I have to tell you."
Beomgyu nodded, patting Yeonjun's thigh to encourage the older. Yeonjun placed his hand over Beomgyu's, silently thanking him for being willing to listen.
Oh, how could he explain this to his mate without sounding like a total maniac?
"When I got here. I met someone— Well, I'm not sure if it's a someone since he's more like a shadow, but," Yeonjun paused for a small moment, a slight pain began to spread just behind his eyes, sending out claws of agony into his skull. He knew the source of that pounding pain. Eclipse was near, and he didn't want Yeonjun to say anything, but the 20-year had stopped caring.
He couldn't take it anymore. His body, his soul, his mind. . . His whole being couldn't be forced to hide such a secret any longer.
"He's a cat, Gyu." Yeonjun looked up at the younger with wide eyes as desperation suddenly hit him like a murderous rogue wave. He then held onto the younger's hanbok as his eyes filled with tears from the pain and the emotions he had hidden away until now. "He's a darkness that'll kill anything on this island to get what he wants!"
"Y-Yeonjun-"
Yeonjun cut Beomgyu off when a sniffle suddenly escaped him. He then began to sob into Beomgyu's chest, soaking him in tears. Eclipse had finally broken him. . . There was too much damage done to him. He was exhausted and lost in the desperations of trying to free himself from this blessing turned into a curse.
Eclipse had torn him down.
Eclipse had finally been able to burn down the tree that had once stood so tall and strong among the others.
"Y-Yeonjun, Honey, hold on," Beomgyu started, placing his hands against Yeonjun's cheeks to lift his face. Immediately, Beomgyu noticed how tired the older looked. His eyes had sunk in, building up large, dark bags that stretched from one end of the socket to the other. His skin looked paler than how Beomgyu remembered it being, and small wrinkles were outlining parts of his face, somehow making Yeonjun look older.
