Chapter 1

Soobin screamed as electricity ran through his body. His muscles tensed and some of the gray scales that were sprinkled all over his back and arms started to flicker off.

He tried to lift his arms, trying to see if he could yank them free from the chains that kept him in place.

"S-Soobin!"

Suddenly, the burning sensation that had almost smoldered his entire being was gone.

Soobin panted, his head shooting back to the other unnatural being. The 17-year old was laying on the ground, his sleek, feathered back rose and fell slightly. . . He wasn't dead yet, but he had fainted due to the overuse of his powers.

"Kai!" Soobin called as soon as the three lab men opened the metallic door that led to the experimentation room. Their faces were cold and filled with no emotion as they directed towards the fallen creature with sharp objects and sticks that would shock, and burn you painfully.

Soobin hissed with fury, his muscles tensed and the spikes on his back lifted. His instincts screamed to protect Kai and gifted him with enough strength to finally yank the chains off.

He unsheathed his shark-like teeth and bit the chains that curled around his wrists, ripping them into pieces like shattered glass.

Once his limbs were finally free, he launched himself at the lab men. The chains on his neck finally broke and set him free as he sank his teeth into one of the men's stomachs.

Guts and blood painted the already dirty and unkept floor of the experimentation room. Soobin lifted the dead body and threw it to the side. Blood dripped from his mouth and his eyes became dark and black.

Despite the fact that he was basically covered with blood, he crawled towards Kai and held him between his arms. "Stay away." He hissed, his spikes erecting and threatening to shoot away into the lab men's torsos if they dared to come any closer and hurt his baby.

The men hesitated, one of them stopped the other from poking the phenomenon with the shocking stick. One of them lifted a weird black box with a weird static noise and began to talk.

Soobin didn't catch anything when his attention shifted back to Kai when the small 17-year old brushed his hands against his cheek.

"Blood. . . Did they hurt you?" He asked weakly, his pretty doe eyes staring back at Soobin's blackened ones.

Soobin shook his head, holding Kai and pressing him against his chest.

"I'm alright-"

He cut off when something sharp sank into his back abruptly. The sting increased when four to five tranquilizers sank into his back.

Kai widened his eyes, sitting up and catching Soobin when the sea-like creature fell to the side. But before Kai could embrace Soobin, two strong hands grasped both of his arms, immobilizing him and dragging him away from his friend.

"Soobin! Soobin, no! Let me go, no!" He cried, kicking and struggling when four other men held Soobin up and dragged him away into one of the punishment rooms.

Tears ran down Kai's cheeks at watching how Soobin's head rolled to the side unconsciously as he was dragged away from the safety of his arms.

"Let him go!"

Suddenly, something sharp and heavy stroke his head, sending him into a deep, deep hole of darkness as he lost consciousness.
