I woke up the next day covered in a cold sweat, my heart racing. The blankets were tangled around my legs and my shirt was stuck to my chest. What was wrong with me?
Brooklyn, Bailey signed, walking into my room. The boys just called, they want is to meet them at their hotel room. I nodded, slipping out of my bed. I pulled on my boyfriend jeans and a blue crop top. I tied my white converse and walked through the bathroom to Bailey's adjoining room. I waved my hand in her face.
Ready? Bailey nodded, sliding her laptop into its case. She stood up and grabbed her bag.
We're twining! She signed, her fingers moving enthusiastically. I sighed, taking in her blue crop top, black skater skirt and white converse. I groaned, trudging back into my room. I changed into a light green cropped sweater, grabbing my tan hand bag.
You drive. Bailey signed as we walked out the door.
Why?
I forgot to put my makeup on. I rolled my eyes, but slid into the drivers seat.
I love you. She signed, clipping into the passenger seat. I just smirked and started the car.

Once we reached the hotel, Matt pulled me aside."So, do you want passes for you and Bailey to our show?" He whispered in my ear. I nodded. Matt grabbed my wrist and dragged me into an elevator and to their hotel room.
"We might have some in the room, if we don't I can pull some strings." I grinned.
"Thanks Matt. I don't know what I would do without you..." I trailed off, staring at the threesome sitting on the bed. Music was blasting and there were two girls, one blonde and one brunette, flanking Taylor. He had his head buried in the blonde's neck as she giggled. When Taylor heard the door close he didn't even look up. His eyes looked tired and he had a slight 5 o'clock shadow. When Matt saw my face, he looked around for the source of the music. Then he took three long strides to the radio and unplugged it.
"What the hell, dude?" Taylor asked, looking up from the blonde he was kissing. Matt cleared his throat and raised his eyebrows, looking between Taylor and me.
Taylor looked confused for a moment then pushed the blonde away. "Brooklyn?" The familiar feeling of betrayal crushed my heart.
I knew I should have never fallen for his adorable smile. I bet that was his weapon of choice. He probably smiled sweetly and girls would worship the ground he walked on instantly. What hurt the most was that it had felt so genuine at the time. Was he like that with every single girl?
The room was silent as Taylor and I stared at each other, not wanting to be the first to do something. "Hey Taylor," I said cheerfully, forcing a grin onto my face. All I wanted to do was scream at myself. I had known all along he was a tool (arielcrawford_ ; D ).
"Come on, let's get those passes." Matt grasped my wrist and pulled me into the adjoining room. "I'm so sorry Brook, if I had known what was happening I wouldn't have-"
"Stop!" I said sharply.
"But, you guys like each other and I ruined it." I almost burst out laughing.
"Like me? What Taylor was doing out there shows he has no feelings for me at all. And it doesn't even matter. We're here to get those passes for my sister."
"But, B." Matt whined.
"Seriously," I said. "Let's just get those passes." Who cares if my heart feels like Thor smashed it with his hammer, but no one would ever know. It's probably just the shock of seeing Taylor act like the...man whore everyone expects him to be.
---
When we finally got the passes, Matt walked me back to the elevator. Out in the hallway, the tension was palpable. Taylor and the girls were nowhere to be seen. Matt scratched his head awkwardly.
"Thanks for everything. Bailey will love this." I told Matt, stopping in front of the elevator. I jabbed the down button.
"I'll show you out," Matt said.
I shook my head. "Don't worry, I can find my way downstairs."
"Really?"
"Yeah. All you have to do is press a button and the elevator goes down."
"All right, sassy pants. I'll see you tomorrow." I hugged Matt and stepped into the elevator. I hit the lobby button and slouched against the mirrored wall. The elevator dinged and I walked form the lobby to the parking garage. I pulled out my phone and texted Bailey.
Me: At the car, are you ready to go?
Bailey: No, Cam will drive me.
Me: Srsly?
Bailey: Yeah, he's not a snob!
That sent a pang to my heart. I sighed and unlocked the car door.
"Brooklyn, wait!" My heart jumped when I heard my name. My whole body tensed when I turned and saw Taylor running towards me. I took a deep breath and tried to prepare for the painful conversation that was sure to follow. When Taylor was just three feet in front of me, I grit my teeth. I had been hit by a sudden urge to run into his arms and kiss him. My heart was screaming at me to do just that, but my brain knew much better. I clenched my fists and stayed put.
"Can we talk?" Taylor asked, his brown eyes searching mine.
"About what?" I asked.
"Uh, well" he said surprised that I didn't know what he was talking about. "I didn't think I'd see you this soon."
Or never again, apparently. "I live in Mamaroneck." Taylor nodded.
"Yeah..." He ran his hand through his curly hair. "What you saw up there was just-" he stopped. "Why didn't you call me?"
The small amount of anger I had towards him became an overwhelming rage. "Are you fricking kidding me?"
"Yeah, that was serious."
"Well here's my serious answer. I did call you. You didn't call back." Taylor's brow furrowed in confusion.
"What! That's nowhere near true. I wanted to call you, I really did. Ask the guys-" I felt as if I was Rue in the Hunger Games; struck in the chest with a javelin. I knew he was lying, I knew it. And the worst part was that I wasn't even worth the truth.
"It doesn't really matter, anyways." I said, opening the car door. Taylor's gaze flocked to my car in panic. He took a stride towards me.
"What? Why?" He sounded like I had hurt him.
I scoffed. "You really thought that something could happen with us?"
"Yeah, I guess." Taylor scratched the back of his head.
"That's just what I thought." Taylor held my gaze for a moment longer, then stared at the asphalt. He looked devastated even though he had crushed my heart.
"Goodbye, Taylor." I slid into my car and started to close the door.
"Wait," Taylor grabbed the door, stopping it from closing. I looked at him impatiently. "I-I...never mind." I rolled my eyes and slammed the door.
