My junior year of high school was a blur of homework, trips to the mall, mid-terms, and Colton. It was a great year until my cousin Kelly's wedding.

---

"Colton," I giggled, smacking his arm.

"What?" Colton bent down to kiss my neck again.

"We have to go. The reception is in twenty minutes!" Colton groaned and sat up. I smoothed out my pale blue dress. Colton adjusted his wrinkled suit jacket. Today was the wedding and I was a bridesmaid. We hopped out of the car and made our way to the reception tent.

"Oh my god! You're here. Kelly's been asking for you." Aunt Clarissa said, running up to us. Her maroon mother-of-the-bride dress flowed in the wind. She clutched her floppy hat to her head.

"I'll be right back, Colton." I followed Aunt Clarissa into the trailer behind the tent. Kelly was sitting in a plush white chair in front of a large full length mirror. Her makeup was running and she had two dress, one a shimmering gold and the other a lace cream ensemble. When she heard the door open, she turned. She turned, she looked even worse from the front.

"Oh Brooklyn, I need your advice. What should I wear?" She held up the dresses, bursting into tears again.

"Kelly, what's wrong honey?" I bent down and picked up a package of face wipes. I pulled one out and wiped off her makeup.

"I-I can't decide what to wear! I have to look perfect." I smiled and crouched down next to her.

"Why don't you wear the gold one? It matches the gold accents on your wedding dress." Kelly smiled through her tears. "And I'll do your makeup, so it compliments your dress." Kelly nodded and wiped away the last of her tears.

"Thank you, Brooklyn. The boys are coming right? Sam really wants them be here." Kelly's fiancé was MagCon's manager's nephew so they were invited. I hoped that the guys were gonna be on their best behavior, I didn't want Kelly to have another break down.

"Ok, so you get dressed and holler when you want me to do your makeup." Kelly nodded and I pulled the cream lace dress from her grip. I handed it to her maid of honor and left the trailer.

"Crisis averted." I told Aunt Clarissa, walking towards Colton. He looked so . . . Colton-y as he sat on one of the chairs, his suit jacket rumpled.

"Hey, is Kelly all right?" I nodded and sat on his lap. "Do you think she'll need you soon?" I shook my head and leaned in. Colton met me halfway, his lips cold from the wind.

"Hey guys! You got here early." Cameron's voice rang through the previously empty garden. I turned away from Colton's lips. Bailey looked breathtaking. She was wearing the same dress as me, yet she looked regal and I looked like a . . . normal bridesmaid. Bailey has her hand in Cameron's, brown hair escaping her meticulously messy bun. Cameron is watching the strands bounce as they walk hand in hand. I know for a fact that he tried to convince her to wear her hearing aid and she was way to stubborn to listen. She said 'Too many drunk uncles.'

Did Kelly have a break down? I nodded, giggling at Bailey's perceptiveness.

"The reception dress." Bailey laughed silently.

Aunt Clarissa ran up behind us. "The reception needs you." I smiled and pulled Colton into the tent.

The reception was going well until the dancing started.

"Hey, babe?" Colton whispered, pulling me closer.

"Yeah?"

"I have some news."

"What's going on?" I was worried now and I clutched Colton's suit jacket.

"I-I have to go t-to Florida to be with my grandma for the summer."

"What?!" I stopped dancing and detached myself from Colton.

"Brooklyn, don't freak out."

"Don't freak out? My boyfriend is leaving for Florida for the whole summer." I ran my hands angrily through my hair. "When are you leaving?"

"In a week . . . " I collapsed against Colton's chest.

"Excuse me, may I have this dance?" I turned to Taylor, resting my rare on Colton's chest.

"Uh, we're kind of talking about something." Colton said.

"No, it's okay Taylor. We're done talking." I stepped away from Colton. Colton held his hands up and stepped away from me. I wrapped my arms around Taylor's neck and he slipped his around my waist.

"What's going on with you two?" Taylor asked.

"You said you'd always be here for me, right?" Taylor nodded.

"Well, Colton's going to Florida for the summer and I'm gonna need a friend."

"I'm already your friend, Brooklyn." I smiled and leaned my head on his shoulder.

"Thank you, Taylor. I owe you one."

"No, you don't." Taylor kissed the top of my head. We danced through the whole night and I shoved Colton out of mind. I loved Colton and I would forgive him, but right now I needed to be in the moment . . . with Taylor.
