I lay in bed, my heart beating fast as I think about last night. Emma wanted to kiss me. She openly admitted that she cared for me but I can't take advantage of that small confession, especially while she is broken, emotional and intoxicated with one too many drinks last night.

She spent so long denying me and denying that she could be bisexual. Every man she sees sends shivers down her spine, but I don't know if that's her sexuality or the fear of every male being like Neal.

Either way, I dare not to bring the subject up when I'm around her. A week has passed and I barely see her now. She skipped group this week but I notice she appears busy. Her foster mother and father have moved to Storybrooke in a nice little cosy loft apartment. But it appears it's not just her that is busy in her life.

Elena comes running into the living room where I curl on the sofa reading my book.

"Regina, a letter has just come for you" she says looking at the red royal stamp. "It looks kind of important".

I put down my book, and take the envelope off her, on the back is a stamp that looks very formal. From the mayor of storybrooke.

'Dear Madame Mills
I am writing to inform you, I am stepping down as mayor. I have done my fair share of years within this wonderful job, however I wish to retire now and take a leave to spend time with my grandchildren and travel the world with my husband.
I don't need to go into much detail, but as you know, if I wish to step down we need someone to step up to being mayor and I believe you will make a great role model for the town.
I have enrolled you and you will win over the people of storybrooke. I believe in you my predacious child, have hope and you will succeed.
Good luck Regina, I have all my faith in you.
Yours sincerely, all my love
- Blue.'

I smile at the old nickname I used to call her. She was my mother's friend growing up. She raised me more than my own mother did. Whenever my mum was being stern, I would always climb out my back window and hop over the fence to our loving neighbour. Everything in her house was blue, hence her nickname.

She's been more of a mother to me that my own mother.

"You look happy, what is it?" Elena asks, sitting beside me on the sofa.

"I don't believe it." I gasp. "I've been enrolled to become mayor"

"MAYOR OF STORYBROOKE! OH MY GOSH" she shrieks. "That makes you like... a queen of this village" she screams with excitement and I only giggle. "This is going to be amazing! We're going to have a big mayor house for you, me, Emma, Henry, and Lola. We're going to have so many rooms it will be like a fairytale castle"

"Elena" is softly coo, giggling from all her excitement. "We're already living in the mayor house"

"We are?"

"Yes, Blue was the previous mayor, but she was more like a mother to me. When my mother abandoned me when my father died, I moved in with blue. She became mayor and a while after fell in love. She moved out but left this home to me until she comes down from mayor." I softly state. "But you do understand, I haven't become mayor yet, I need to win over the people of storybrooke"

"And Emma" she sing songs, wriggling her eyebrows and giving the biggest smirk. How can this young child be so damn smart. "Starting with our plan. Let's call it... operation swanqueen"

"Operation swanqueen?" I repeat in a questionable tone, turning my lip up at her silly game.

How can she be so smart, so knowing. She's been in plenty of foster homes and given up so much yet she still craves for everyone to find happiness and a form of love. She always refers to her parents being so madly in love and I think she misses being around that all day, everyday.
