Tendou x Reader

The Game

(Y/N) POV

   I'm sitting on my towel watching the boys down in the water. Tendou was trying to get Ushijima to dunk his head in, he was wearing a full snorkle kit he brought. It truly was a sigh to see. 

   "Hey" Yachi says as she sits down beside me.

   "Hey" I say, "Oh! Have you made any moves on Yams yet?"

   "Nope, but we did walk down the beach together so that was nice" she says blushing.

   "Yachi! That would've been the perfect opportunity, and I've got money bet on you." I whisper yell at her even though no one was around. 

   "Mhm, and did you make and moves on Tendou?" she says smugly.

   "No, but this is different. I've only know him for like two days, but you and Yams are friends!" I say punching her shoulder lightly.

   "Tch yeah alright, your just scared" she says. 

   "Wow ok, no need to call me out like that."

   "Also I heard what happened earlier, you ok?" Yachi asks. 

   "Yeah I'm all good, it was just a nose bleed, nothing serious." I reply looking back at the sea. From here I could see Tendou with his face in the water and his snorkel sticking up with his feet kicking wildly. I giggle to myself. 

   Yachi follows my gaze and smile, "You really like him don't you?"

   "Yeah, wait ahh forget I said that!" I say covering my face out of embarrassment.

   "Don't worry I already know, I think it's cute" she says.

   "Really, thanks I guess?" I say. 

   Then someone calls Yachi's name from the water, we both look up and see that Yamaguchi is waving at her smiling. I nudge her and she stands up, I give a thumbs up before she runs down the beach to join him. Now I'm all alone. 

   I sit on the sand listening to music for a while, my head still a little light from the nose bleed. A smile creeps onto my face, I hadn't been this happy in a while, it felt nice to have so many friends.

   My music suddenly stops and I open my eyes to see Terushima kneeling beside me. I take out my headphones and sit up.

   "Hey hoe" he says. "How are you feeling?"

   "I'm fine, thanks." I reply.

   "Wanna go swim? Everyone else is having fun and you're being a bum." Terushima states.

   "Well I did just black out so I think being a bum is excusable, but yeah sure let's go" I say. 

   It's 3pm and the heat's almost at it's peak. As soon as I step into the sun I'm basically melting. We walk down to the water and Terushima challenges me to a race out to one of the buoy's. Our friendship had always been very competitive, and everywhere we went there would be a challenge. We wade out to our 'starting line' and get ready. On start we take off, the buoy is only 50 meters out but I'm running out of energy by the time I get there. Terushima and I are neck in neck and the home stretch is a mess of flailing limbs and splashing water. I reach the shore only a second before him, securing my victory. 

   "Better luck next time, slow poke" I tease, flicking him in the forehead.

   He starts fake crying and going on about how mean I was when I hear someone call my name.

   "(Y/N)! Come over here for a second." I turn and see Tendou yelling at me from down the beach.

   I say goodbye to Terushima and head over to Tendou. "What's up?" I ask.

   "We need a ref for a volleyball tournament, can you do it?" he asks me.

   "Sure, what court are you using?" I question.

   "The far one down there, your cousin is keeping it for us so you'll know which one. See you down there!" He says, running down the beach to collect players for his team. 

   I walk down the beach and find the court with Asahi on it. He tells me I can sit in the chair by the net, and explains how the points are. It seems easy enough so I sit down and wait for the game to start. 

   Before the game starts Tendou comes up to me. "Cheer for me ok?" he whispers in my ear, smirking.

   I blush, he's so hot when he does that. "I wouldn't cheer for anyone else" I say.

   "Good" Tendou says and he walks to his side. Damn that was a little scary. 

   I had never seen anyone but Terushima play before, or, I had never payed attention before. SO it was really interesting to see everyone's special skills in action. Tendou had told me before that he was the middle blocker but I had no idea how good he was at it. The way he guessed where someone was going to spike with such a high accuracy was mesmerizing. 

   I cheered for him as directed, but I didn't let that influence my reffing. Every time he blocked someone's attack he would look at me a check to see if I had been watching him. And each time our eye's connected my heart would jump a little. 

   By the time the game was done, and Tendou's team won, the sun was sinking toward the horizon and the air was cooling off. Tendou was going around high fiving everyone and when he got to me he scooped me up into a hug. I was slightly suprised but hugged him back. 

   "Did you see me? I was good wasn't I?" he says proudly.

   "Yeah you were great, your guess blocking is really cool!" I say grinning at him. 

   "Right! My favorite thing is blocking someone's spike and seeing their face as the ball falls back down." he says, a little menacingly. 

   "I'm sure it's great. We should go back now, the girls and I are in charge of cooking the barbeque." I say, starting to walk back. 

   "A barbeque!!! I love barbeques! I can't wait." Tendou say says jumping up and down like a kid.
