Bets

Tendou POV (at the game)

   This is my shot to get (Y/N) to see how cool I am when I play, I think when someone suggests we play beach volleyball. 

   I can get her to ref so that she has no choice but to watch me. It sounds a little forceful but I really want her to see my skill. 

   I call her over, "We need a referee for the volleyball game, can you do it?" I ask her hopefully. 

   "Sure!" she agrees. I grin, my plan is going well. 

   Once I gather enough people for my team I head over to the court and see (Y/N) sitting in the ref's chair. I walk up to her, and whisper in her ear, "Cheer for me ok?"

   She freezes for a second and then says "I wouldn't cheer for anyone else." Omg she's acting like my girlfriend. Ahh what do I do?

   "Good." I say. Seriously, that sounds way to seductive.

  The game starts and whenever I block I glance at (Y/N) to see if she was watching me, for some reason I didn't want her watching anyone else. 

  Her cheering for me made me play really well and is probably what brought my team to victory. I was so happy that she could see me in my element and once I finished giving everyone high fives I walked over to her and scooped her up in a hug. 

   I hoped that I wasn't being to forward or forceful with my flirting but I don't think she seemed to mind. 

   She tells me that her and the other girls are going to be preparing a barbeque for dinner and I revert back to my child-like self. 

(Y/N) POV

    The girls and I go over one of the picnic table and start getting everything ready. I was starving so I wanted to get dinner ready as soon as possible. Last night Kiyoko, Yachi and Suga had prepared everything as far as they could so all we had to do today was cook it all up. The beach provided us with barbeques which was convenient. Saeko wasn't much help because she just kept eating things off the grill. Finally everything was ready, we had made burgers and salad. Super simple but a good meal none the less. We called everyone over to serve themselves, Kiyoko, Yachi, Saeko and I got to eat first since we had made the meal. Once we had gotten everything we went over to a unoccupied picnic table to eat. 

   Tanaka, Noya and Yamamoto joined us soon after and Saeko started laying into Tanaka about how little vegetable he had on his plate. 

   I lean over to Yachi and whisper, "Anything with Yamaguchi?"

   She blushes and looks down at her plate smiling. "Yeah, um actually I never got the chance to ask him out, cause when he called me down earlier he asked me out first." she says quietly. 

   "YAY! I knew it!! Alright Saeko pay up!" I demand. 

   "What was the bet?" Yachi asks laughing. 

   "I said that you and Yams would get together today and Saeko said that you would get together at the end of summer. So I win." I say, Saeko groans and pulls out 10 bucks from her pocket. "Thank you!"

   Then the guys chip into the conversation. "What are you guys going on about? If it's a bet we want in" Yamamoto says. 

   "We are placing bets on who's gonna get together this summer" Kiyoko says through a full mouth. 

   "Oh ok, so wat lucky couples-to-be are we betting on?" He asks.

   "Well Yams and Yachi was one, but they're out now. The others are, Akaashi and Bokuto, Sugawara and Daichi, Kenma and Kuroo, and finally Hinata and Kageyama." I explain to him. 

   "I think we should add (Y/N) and Tendou, since you two have been getting close" Yachi suggest and everyone else nods in agreement. "Alright then, so we have 5 ships to bet on. Open your wallets people."

   "I'm betting on Kuroo and Kenma" Yamamoto says "I bet 10 dollars that they will be next, and Kuroo will be the one to make the first move."

   "Alright, I'm betting on Daichi and Suga next, and Suga will confess to Daichi. 10 dollars." says Noya. 

   "I'm going with Akaashi and Bokuto, they obviously have a thing for each other, and it will be when we go to that National Park next week." says Tanaka boldly. "10 dollars as well."

   "I'm going for (Y/N) and Tendou, Tendou confesses first and it will happen today" states Kiyoko. "Don't let me down (Y/N)."

   "Guess I'm last, which is ok cause I was gonna choose Hinata and Kags anyway. And Hinata confesses." says Yachi. 

   Since I had already won a bet I didn't have to participate and Saeko opted out of this round. Now that the bets were placed we set aside that conversation. The sun was really low now, and everyone had finished eating. The beach had mostly cleared out from people leaving for dinner, so it was just our group and a few other teenagers. 

    Someone suggests that we have a bonfire so we all go off to find dry wood to use. I'm walking along the tree line with a few sticks in my arms admiring the ocean at dusk. The sun was turning shades of pink, orange and purple and blended together to make the perfect sunset. I start to head back when Tendou runs up to me, his arms are also filled with wood.

   "Hey" I say. 

   "Hi, dinner was really good by the way." he says turning his gaze to the ocean as well. 

   "Thanks, I'm glad you liked it." I reply. For some reason this conversation felt awkward, unlike the others we had during day. 

   We walk in silence for a bit until Tendou pipes up, "Do you want to sit with me at the fire?" he asks, a hopeful yet nervous look across his face.

   "Yeah I'd love to!" I reply, and can see him relax. 

   "Cool" he says. And then we are back in the awkward silence. 

   We reach the other fire and place our wood in the pile that everyone had made, there was well over enough wood to last us the night. Asahi calls me over to help build the fire and I tell Tendou that I'll be back once the fire's made. 

   "Let's stack up the wood in a tower okay" the boy named Oikawa orders. He gave me pretty boy vibes but besides that he seemed ok. 

   The wood was all stacked up and now all we needed was to light it, I find a pack of matches in someone's bag and light one. I stick in into the bottom of the stack in multiple places and watch the wood catch flame. 

   Once the fire is up to Oikawa's standards I walk around trying to find Tendou. He's sitting down on a towel and when he see's me he moves to one side and pats the ground beside him for me to sit down. I sit beside him and hug my knee's to my chest, the sun has almost disappeared and I can start to see the moon and a few stars overhead. 

   Bokuto and Oikawa start an arm wrestling match on a bench and soon everyone is cheering them on, I see Akaashi kneeling beside Bokuto cheering him on and I smile, maybe they will be next. After a minute Oikawa wins and Bokuto goes into emo mode, Akaashi reassures him and I can see Tanaka watching them hoping that this will be it. 

   Everyone starts talking in smaller groups and Tendou and I go into yet another conversation about anime and manga. He tells me about his Weekly Shonen Jump collection and says that he'll bring me some next time we see each other. 

   The sun has fully gone down now. I see Ushijima staring at Tendou and point it out to him. When I do he excuses himself and stands up, walking over to Ushijima. As soon as he's gone I miss his warmth. I watch the first while I wait for Tendou to come back. Then I hear a giggle from my left and look over to see Yachi sitting in Yamaguchi's lap.

   Wow, they move fast.
