Carson looked down at her phone as it started ringing, she closed her eyes letting out a breath as she brought it to her ear.
"Yes?" She asked warily into the phone, clearly confused why Milo was calling her so early. She wasn't suppose to be at the Manheim residence for another thirty minutes."I'm on my way to your place, I need—I need your help with somethings around town today.." You could hear the clear distaste in his voice when he mentioned needing her help. It oddly made her smile, picturing his face pulled into a scowl.
"Um okay? Do I need to bring anything?"
"You have copies of my financials right?"
"Yea—-"
"Great that's all we need, be ready." Carson found herself rolling her eyes yet again as the line went dead. She hated how he felt like he could just order her around. Sure she was his assistant but he was getting so cocky these days.Bringing her hot coffee to her lips she took a long sip before setting it back down. Racing up her stairs to make sure she had her purse and grabbed Milo's financial file out of her office before skipping back down the steps. As soon as she heard an obnoxious honk from outside she groaned. Grabbing a mask before meeting her annoying boss outside.
"You owe me an extra hours pay."
"Whatever.." Milo snapped, not so gently putting his foot to the gas. Carson glared at him after bracing herself against his glove box.
"Whoops.""So what are we doing in Culver City?" Carson finally asked as she checked her emails, well actually they were Milo's emails. He shifted in his seat causing her to give him a side glance.
"..First I just want to remind you that your my assistant and breaking any kind of confidentiality between us is grounds for termination." This made Carson sit up in her seat, turning completely to face the teenager.
"What did you do?"
"Nothing.. yet."
"Milo okay quit the shit, what's going on?" He only chose to ignore her instead checking over his shoulder as he parked in a empty spot on the street.
"I want to move out." He said with a shrug as if it was the simplest thing ever. Before Carson could even stutter a reply he got out of the car and slammed his door to his brand new Tesla."Easy on the car, Christ." Carson shook her head, shutting her door carefully. She came up next to him just to step in front of him.
"Okay can you stop and like actually talk to me?" Milo rolled his eyes as his assistant snapped up at him. He knew this would happen by bringing her along but he knew he needed her help.
"Your trying to move out and you didn't even run it pass your mom?" He glared at her before practically seething. "I'm nineteen not nine."
"B-but it's your mom." Apparently something she said got to him. He looked away from her to his dirty white shoes that he never tried cleaning.
"I—I know... but I just really need my own space." Taking a deep breath in he felt like he was able to steady his nerves enough to look back into her eyes.
"I need to do this, so please can you just help me?" It was probably the most sincere she had ever heard him be. Carson ran a hand through her hair in frustration. It didn't seem like he was asking a lot of her besides for her to do her job but he knew exactly what kind if position he was putting her in. No matter how much of a dick or a brat Milo was, he was Cammy's whole world. Her pride and joy.. She literally drew up a contract and had her eggs fertilized in a lab just to have him..
Now Milo was going to just move out, without talking to her about it and worse he wanted Carson to not only help him but keep his mother in the dark..
"If she fires me—"
"—-She's not technically your boss anymore.." He assured her but the reminder only made Carson more upset.
"Fine.. Did you have any places in mind?" Milo smirked nodded his head towards the building they parked in front of.
"The Jefferson apartments?" She asked almost in shock and a little disgust. "No—like actually what is wrong with you? Have you seen them?"
"They're running a move in special right now.." Milo deadpanned but this just made Carson roll her eyes.
"For the love of god can you please just give me your keys. Cammy would fucking kill both of us if I let your ass move into these sketchy ass apartments." She tapped her foot, holding her outstretched as if he didn't have a choice. He sighed mumbling under his breathe before pushing the keys into her hand. He kept telling himself he wasn't being a pussy by backing down but.. If he was honest he did always like the way she tried to order him around. After pulling some key details from Milo, such as what was his price range and some deal breakers as far as what he was looking for. Carson put together a small list of places she considered Cammy approved.
It had to be a secured building with 24 hour surveillance.
"Oh it has to have a balcony too."
"Well... duh." She mumbled as if it was obvious. Milo was kind of obsessed with watching sunrises and sunsets. After seeing a couple apartments Milo was starting to realize he had really no clue what the hell he was doing. Every apartment showing had him wanting to move in just for Carson to but in and start asking question after question seeing right through the sales pitches.
Finally they found the one... or so he thought.
"And it's gated 24/7?"
"Yes Miss 24/7, access is restricted to only tenants with key fobs or their guests who have a access code as you saw at the front gate." Carson nodded, letting the leasing manager go on about the vaulted ceilings, and stainless steel appliances."Do you have any units available on the other side of the property?" Milo gave her a look wondering what was wrong with the unit they were currently in.
"I do but the only one we have available this month is a two bedroom."
"Can we see that one?"
"Of course."Milo nodded in approval seeing the slightly bigger apartment with even more updated appliances. However his attention was stolen as he felt Carson's hand grab a hold of his. He sucked in a breath as she led him out on the balcony. The warm glow of the sun, setting over the city completely taking his breath away.
"The unit on the other side was too blocked to see the sunrise or sunset.. This is just right." For the first time in a long time Milo felt a genuine smile tug at his lips.
"Thank you Car." She looked over, her breath faltering once her eyes met his. Not realizing he had been so close. Luckily before she could speak the leasing manager felt the need to interrupt.
"Amazing view right?" Clearing her throat Carson nodded before letting go of Milo's hand.
"Yup, so what does he need to sign?"
